Came home with this ▼ yesterday

Jim;
Congratulations on your new Performer! My new, unused, Performer is under several inches of snow, right now. It looks like it'll be a month before I get to fire it up (it's going to be minus 12 degrees, tomorrow and looks like it's gonna be COLD for another few weeks, darn it!).

Keep on smokin',

I dicked around trying to come up with a way to get the lid to open at a 90º angle, instead of the standard 60 or so...
I think I found something that'll work.
I purchased a lid bale for a 26"OTG (Weber will not sell a lid bale for a 2015 Performer unless you own one, I do not)

here are a few photos...

as you see, the lid does NOT sit on the rollers as it should...

the lid is actually against the metal holder...
I do have an idea to soften that, to prevent any scratching that may occur...

...but, I did get the lid to sit straight up and down... and being left-handed, this should be fine.

think i'll fire it up tomorrow... have some nice beef chuck eyes that'll fit on this grill ;)

Jim
I called Weber also and they would not sell the bale for a 2015 model either.
They told me the warranty would be void if I was to drill the bowl and chip the paint.
they also said the table tops did not attach the same either.

Jim.
good call on that 26" bale. Did you have to dril a new bottom hole or did it line withthe ones i your kettle?
Another thing worth mentoning, Crate & Barrel had told methe Weber rep that set up their Weber display had siad that the tab on the upper ven damper can also be used to rest the lid into thebale. Apparntly some Weber owners mentioned the plastic roller burning due to the hot lid resting on them. I am not sure if that stateme t was true.

great mod good loki g grill. I a,burning my performer inas i type this.

I have a 2015 master touch and would like to have the performer type lid bale that allows 90 degrees. I know weber won't sell me one, I tried. but If I were to somehow source one somewhere, will the existing 60 degree angle lid bale holes fit perfectly? Or will it require new holes at different locations?

fit perfectly? who knows... require new holes? I do not think so. I believe the lid bales are only different in sizes.

Joe, on a 2015 performer, the holes that the lid bail go into are about 18-3/8 to 18-1/2 inches apart, measured in a straight line from hole to hole, not along the circumference. That should help you out, I hope.
