buzzing buzzing buzzing

Any older males who take Saw Palmetto for enlarged prostate this medication can cause ringing of the ears , I learned this first hand .
Ibuprofen can also cause it. I've had it for 25 years. Unfortunately a hunting partner with a ported shotgun didn't wait for shoot command when we were in our blind for a Canada goose field shoot.

I guess that I am fortunate that it doesn't bother me. I actually don't notice it unless I think about it. Try falling asleep to something like the old time radio show podcasts.

Pretty sure that the abuse I heaped on my ears earlier in life on the farm without hearing protection, or the 6 years I spent with the output slot of an IBM 5211 chain printer about 8' away that was aimed directly at my left ear, have contributed to my [mild] tinnitus. Some of the rock shows like The Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, etc. didn't help either.

My tinnitus goes from a water faucet sound to a high pitched squeal. Sometimes very high at wee hours of the night for 15 or 20 seconds then stops. I have had this noisecforcover 45 years or more. Hearing aides only make louder I have new aides coming that are suppose to help,we will see.
As Larry said at least captions on thecTV are working and queit.

Everyone that does not have this problems seems have have all the opinons on how to fix it.

I know I am not the only person to deal with this. Tinnitus is driving me nuts. Like hearing a gazzilion cicadas buzzing in my head constantly. Any other old farts around here find anything that helps? It's driving me nuts
I went to a specialist 3 years ago in hopes they could help me because I was told they made advancements but nope. I ended up with a pair of hearing aids that you can program to hear things all day in the background to distract you from the noise all while having a converstion with somebody. That's it. I didn't like it at all. Still have the hearing aids just don't use them even though i should... Im sure you avoid the dead silence in your house, I always have something going radio or tv but that's about all I do. Sorry to hear you have this. Im 52 now and wonder if it gets worse or what? Is it me or does it seem like it some weeks are ok but other weeks it worse?

I got it, years ago, after SCUBA.
Not sure why, as I had no issues with equalization and it was a very conservative dive.
I lost some hearing and have had the constant ringing and, (this will sound strange), the ringing sounds like bug noise and crickets chirping, like it's a summer evening.
I've seen a couple of ENT's, one of which is a dive-rated doctor and diver. In a nutshell, I don't believe that anything can be done so I've learned to live with it and, in some instances, embrace it. The bug noise is rather soothing.
