Buying Spices in Bulk

Hi all - just wondering where everyone is finding the best deals on spices in large amounts (14+ ounces). I am going through a boatload of paprika, cumin, mustard, etc. Amazon looks to be the best I can find so far, from looking online Costco seems to carry only one main brand.

Thanks!

Barb and I use Penzeys spices ordering online and the quality is excellent and the prices are reasonable. They do have stores also and are based out of Wisconsin, so they may have one where you live.

Also look for a Savory Spice Shop. The nearest Penzey's is 2 hours away, but I have 2 SSS locally. They also have an online store.
Edit- I just checked out Penzey's website. There is a store in south Charlotte!! I may have to make a pilgrimage!

Thanks all - no wincos or savory spices either, but we do have some local Indian / Pakistani stores I might try as well.

Buy Frontier by the pound from amazon. Fill containers, vacuum seal the rest away. Usually 2lbs for $15-20 depending on what you're buying.

There is also a place called The Spice House. Similar to Penzeys, but I think a better selection. I check them for the harder to find spices.

If you're lucky to have an international market in your area they usually have great selections of spices, I have a Super G close to my house and it has food and spices from all around the world and of course there is always restaurant supply stores for bulk of your more standard spices.

Matt, Penzey's probably will not have larger than half pound sized bags in stock, that's why I suggested contacting them.
I've used spice house too and I like the Penzey's quality a little better, cheapest is not always best.
Just my opinion.

Agreed Tim - I live in MD and so I am used to using McCormick which I trust. I think I would buy a small size of any new brand before committing to a pound of anything.

Penzeys is very high quality IME, sometimes a bit pricey, but good stuff. And I like that you can trial sniff it. Also, get on their mailing list as they sometimes have freebees.
