I have been so impressed with some of the great bbq we have seen on the SmokeFire. To me that is the reason to get one. Searing steaks, maybe once in a very blue moon. I have a gas grill that I can use a smoker box with and do just as well or better for that. But a gas grill can’t compete in real low and slow bbq. The SmokeFire results for that, as we have seen here, are fantastic - I guess as long as she is in a good mood
!
I gave my Clydesdale Recteq (compared to a thoroughbred racehorse SmokeFire) a real workout starting at 1:30 AM yesterday as I used it to churn out two pork shoulders, three racks of ribs, and two chuck roasts for making faux burnt ends - all for a church Men’s group bbq at my house. This was my first Indiana bbq besides just home cooking.
My Recteq never let me down, and when I started slicing the chuck roast to begin making the burnt ends, I was very happy to get the bbq seal of approval of a nice smoke ring:

Final product looked - and tasted - really good I thought, and thankfully I think my guests thought so, too:
