Burgers & Frozen Spares

Saturday our son came to help clean our messy garage, a lot of it was his stuff, and he's married now with his own garage to fill up.
I took a break to grill us some burgers, Texas sausage, and tots.

Jo Anne can now get her vehicle in the garage without trying to thread a needle.

Had a hankerin' for ribs yesterday, none thawed, but I proceeded undaunted.
Set up the coals Harry Soo style, apple and hickory wood on the grate, donut hole center to pour the lit.

I had frozen the spares rolled up, this was perfect since I was using the 14.5"

After about 1/2 hr. I was able to unroll and apply SYD rub from Harry's recipe.

Later I cut them in half, and mopped a few times with a mix of cider vinegar and Dr Pepper.

Cut up, but no plate shots.

Jo and I both thought they were excellent with no adverse effects from starting them frozen.
Total cook was 6 hours with the hood therm showing 225° the whole time.

Thanks for your visit!

Thanks for the idea Bob. I had never thought about rolling before freezing ribs. They look great!

Burger plate is beautiful Bob and those ribs are gorgeous. Looks outstanding. Does your son hire out? My garage is next on a very long to do list!

Great cook Bob, I've got to try that idea of a ribsicle, meat flavor frozen treat:) I know the garage thing got ten pounds of stuff in an eight pound garage myself.

Now that I have seen you cook spares from a frozen with great success, I really see little reason to go through the effort of thawing them. I may have to try this next time around.

Bob, great idea on the ribs will have to get Rich to try that one. I sure do like the burgers they look delicious, that was a great way to pay your son back FOOD. That always works for some reason.

Outstanding as usual, Bob. I've never tried cooking ribs straight from the freezer, and it's good to know that there will be no detrimental impact to quality if I ever get a last minute craving for spares - your post is all the proof I need!

PERFECT!
You're an AMAZING Man, Robert Correll!!

Interesting, I have heard that you could cook something successfully from frozen, but have never seen it done before.

Now that I have seen it, I believe it. Thanks for sharing!
