- Bruce's and Jon's Kansas City BBQ Adventure!

You guys are spending money I don’t have! I’d love a “Bluegrass Special” with an “F-5 mandolin” on the blue top! Google it.
I just backed off having a watch serviced when I heard $350, I had to go home and check my jockeys!
Grills I must keep in perspective, I’ve gotten so sidetracked with SWMBO recovering from the back “repair” I have let “Bluey Louis” fall through the cracks, as well as several other “lesser priority” projects have taken back seats, and Dang! They seem to stack up quickly!

Yah, I agree Timothy. I am normally a lot tighter with my money and would never consider something like this, but I rarely splurge. I just decided I could put some of my grill rehab hobby money together and pull the trigger...... My initial idea was to just get a plain Purple lid which was even a stretch for me.
Actually, I don't have a price quote from Jeff on this yet, just a vague estimation so it might not wind up happening anyway, but for me to even be considering it kinda surprises even myself.

Bruce, a splurge now and again is good for you! You guys flip grills for a “hobby with benefits” having showpieces is an exercise in showing your talents, that’s NOT extravagant, that’s marketing. Custom finishes are an “Option” not something that you would consider for a “flip” but, if someone came to you and said “Can you…?” You can with confidence show the sample and say “Yep”!
Selling fine jewelry one learns the simple fact that “We” have no idea how how deep the clients pockets are (it’s none of our business) if they want something which we can supply? “Thank you” comes to mind.

I have shared a story of a guy coming in to pick up a custom diamond ring during a snowstorm and he didn’t have a lot to do so, he just hung out and we chatted while his wife (she knew what was coming) just enjoyed looking. “Ooh those are pretty!” 2.00 carat diamond earrings. He just gave “Wrap ‘em” look.
Then he found a lovely watch saying, “I’ve worked hard this year!” She gave the “Wrap it” look. Then she found a watch SHE liked! He looked at me and said (very gently) don’t stop selling until the customer says “ouch”…I just said Ouch! With a wink and a smile. That was a very good day! He was never so happy to see a FedEx guy in his life!

TImothy,
That is exactly what I was going to say to Bruce! When you work on grills for many others, as Bruce has for years, I think it is only appropriate that you have a really special one for yourself to show to others. For me right now, that is my restored 1st generation Summit. I sure hope it works out for Bruce to have this EXTRA special hood to put on his custom stainless frame. Now that will be one ULITMATE Weber grill!

I am really not a football person, but the idea of a Miami Dolphins teal and orange Q 3200 has occurred to me!

Rick, how are you a Vikings Fan living in PA, and your daughter is a Packer fan?
I have no idea, must have been the purple uniforms with the horns imprinted on me when I was little...believe me, I would have been better off being a Steelers fan growing up in the 70's! My daughter moved to Milwaukee and married a Packers fan, so she adapted to and adopted the team. SKOL!!
