Auction score

Feel bad I haven't been much of a contributor around here for awhile, corn harvest dragged way into December and since then either the weather has been awful for outdoors cooking or I have been too busy to accomplish much of it. But I figured this was worthy of a share. My sister and mother like to troll auctions, and they started texting me saying that they had found something that looks like my smoker. After seeing a couple pictures of it I said without being there, I'd surely bid $100 to take it home. Well, they got it for $25. On further investigation after getting it home, it appears that I have an early generation of WSM that has hardly ever been used. It was missing the water pan and top cooking grate, so I ordered those plus a temperature gauge for it and am going to have a second WSM going for a grand total of about 85 dollars :D I was asked to do some cooking at the local watering hole for the Super Bowl this weekend, we have six racks of baby backs and 8 pounds of shecone wings to be smoked so I think it will have a good trial run! To round this out, I'll give you a snapshot of a short rib cook that I never managed to get posted here back in October, and a few other glimpses of harvest.

Clay,
Very cool that you found an old school WSM at such a great price! I'm sure you'll get many terrific cooks out of it. And phenomenal photography of the farm!
