I do, but I don't think this grill is going to turn out nice enough for that. This grill has a side burner with a pretty faded control panel as well. You got a new one for it
Yeah, they do unfortunately. The worst part is you don't often see the burn through holes until you get the grill home and take it apart.I would of never thought the cookbox could get that bad.
All three valves were locked up, got those working again. I have the tank scale soaking in WD -40, can't get the wing nut off for the spring or the nut that holds the pointer on. You can tell by how dirty everything is that this just sat unused for a long time.

How are you polishing up the valves like that they look great
No, I've never had a problem and I've done a handful the same way.Im gonna need to work on that. Your not worried about crud going down into the valve when wire wheelin it ?
Last year I brought home a Genesis 1000 which had been sitting for years in a bunch of shrubs. The only piece of tubing which wasn't rusted through and useless was the segment which bolts to the firebox. Did have a good firebox and drip pan. You figure......I'm going to have to get a donor grill now. The only good thing is it can be any Genesis 1000-5000, that part of the frame is the same on all of them.
After I got done with my lawn work I pulled out the power washer so I could clean everything off to do a better evaluation. The upper frame is in worse shape than I thought and the beauty panel in the front is rusty also. The lid cleaned up quite well. Most of the durawood is good. The lower z brackets are in pretty rough shape. The side burner control panel is pretty faded as well. I really don't want to spend a lot of money chasing down parts to make this thing perfect again. I'm now leaning towards using the lid and most of the brown durawood to redo a Genesis 1000. I've never been a huge fan of the longer frame grills anyway. Any thoughts?
That lid is 1 of 1. My buddy had them make it for him when they made Jack Daniels promotional kettles. The brown durawood was a prototype before they settled on gray as the color they wanted. So I'm definitely going to do something using those parts. Most of the rest of the grill is pretty rough after I more closely examined it today. Its worth getting it back going even as a 1000 , that jack daniels lid is pretty unique

I do have enough to do another 1000 as long as it has a wire rack on the bottom. I might offer up the remaining brown slats and handle to someone if I go that route.Wow nice yea definitely get it back cookin'
I honestly like the longer frame, even if you had another side table vs the side burner however... not enough brown durawood for that
