Any biscuit fans out there?

I also make biscuits fairly regularly, based on buttermilk baking powder recipes. And use lard & butter...... Blueberry lemon biscuits are pretty darned good.

If there's a dirty little secret about making biscuits, it's if you're working at it, you're doing it wrong.

I make biscuits a couple times a week and when me and the wife run about I usually search biscuits along with other you know what…bbq, not nanner puddin, that’s unsurpassed here at the empire. What’s y’all’s take on biscuits? Number 8 Griswold here has made hundreds of pans of them. Heavens they’re tasty!View attachment 118990
Looking good Mike!
Love biscuits, especially when they're made with sourdough starter discard and topped off with some sausage gravy. Unfortunately. they don't fit the diet I'm on :(

Love some Lester and Earl and the Queen does a fine rendition of the song as well.
If you like the “real deal” Bluegrass music one of my favorite bands is “Special Consensus” not always “The way Bill did it” but,Greg always has a very powerful band, saw them Friday night. All new guys, top notch musicians! Greg Blake is a fantastic guitar player and singer!
Check them out if you get the opportunity! Time and money well spent!
I’ve known Greg since his early days all the way back to 1975! Good man!
End hijack.😉

Know their music well.

Love homemade biscuits! My go-to recipes are either Alton Brown's Buttermilk Biscuit recipe, or the North Carolina Cheese-Stuffed Biscuits I saw on Cook's Country a few years ago. Both are great!

Have you tried the “Cuppa Cuppa” recipe? A cup of SR flour and a cup of sour cream, not bad.
The recent trend in “Swim” biscuits isn’t bad either. I just made up a batch of wet burritos for dinner but, now I want biscuits!

I personally was hoping the cuppa was an excellent one but it fell short on the promise to me. I’m very stubborn and stuck in the old paths with little room for change, at least that’s what I’m told. Sounds like everyone else’s problem when they(family) tell me that

This thread is inspring me to make some scratch biscuits. It's been a while...
I stopped buying tube biscuits decades ago.

30+ years ago, I was sharing an apartment with a college buddy (yes, we're still on speaking terms,) trying to sort out dinner one night. Lessee, leftover chicken. How about chicken a la king? He says I'll go get some tube biscuits...... no, no, no, just get some buttermilk. He was sure I was going to make hockey pucks. They turned out so light I almost had to put a plate on top of them to keep them down, and just surprised the daylights out of him.

These days, outside of washing up the sheet pan, it's about 35 minutes from start to cooling, including washing up everything I used.

Anyone got a good recipe without cheese and other things in it? Me: not a fan of things baked into breads unless it's lardons. But, then wife cannot tolerate. So just some nice flaky biscuits
