AHA moment

I'm sure many of you have, at one time or another, found yourself in the same situation as me. Managing to collect a good supply of various types of smoke wood and then dealing with how to store them and keep organized at low cost.

I just had an 'aha' moment and killed two birds with one stone. All of those charcoal bags that would otherwise go in the trash are ideally suited to storage of chunked wood at zero cost. The paper bags are strong, uniformly sized, and can be written on with a marker. This might be old news for many, but for me, it took 3 years to discover this.

I would have never thunk about that.

I usually use mine for dumping the cold ash in.

Your's works too. Certainly have enough empty bags to go around.

Tks.

My chunks are stored in the disposable flower pots one gets when buying a gallon (or larger) sized plant. Yes, I let them dry out completely and then knock out any remaining dirt before the chunks go in.

That's quite a stock of charcoal - does Kingsford deliver straight to your house?

Jim, your supply of Kingsford is running low. Good thing the Memorial Day sale is just around the corner!

(Last year I bought about 70 twin packs!)

I like lens idea of putting cold ashes in the charcoal bags. Right now I dump the hot ashes in my (in ground) fire ring. Then twice a year shovel it out , yuk.. I could get rid of it a little at a time this way...dean
