9.5MM Grill Grates for Weber Spirit 300

Well, that depends on what you are looking for. Sure, they won't have the wide closely spaced grill marks, but they should create some nice very well defined ones. And with their mass, they have the heat retention that is far better than 7mm grates would provide.

I applied a little math and the cross section area of a 9mm triangle and a 7mm circle are almost identical, so I would expect them to have about the same heat retention and perform the same as the mass is really the same.

I remember that Costco had a grill 5 or 6 years ago with some dubious aspects, but one thing that was really nice was the stainless grates that were FLAT on the top. I almost bought a junker resale of one of these just to get those grates.

I like those flat bar SS grates! They are the best of both worlds between the stamped and solid rod! I bet you could get some gorgeous sear marks with those!

I am willing to bet that a set of 7mm grates are far less heavy than a set of those 9mm triangle grates which would be a better ((more accurate) measurement of overall mass.

Yah Jon, a good set of cast or even machined flat top SS grates would be an awesome feature for our Weber grills as long as they didn't scrimp on the overall mass of the grates. But, Oh, I can just imagine the price tag for a set.

1/2" seems way to far apart. The ones Dave built for me are 3/8" or 1/4" I'd have to measure again. And IMO they're perfect. Easy to work with and no dropping things like asparagus and such through

I am contemplating a pre-emptive strike, and asking a local [retired] machinist to make me up some jigs for 1/4" and 3/8" round stock with 3/8" spacing. I've already got jigs for both bar sizes with 1/2" spacing.

I've grilled asparagus on my 3/8" x 1/2" grates with no issue at all. I don't think that zucchini planks or the like would give me any difficulty either.
