304 Stainless Steel Hinged Cooking Grate for 22.5 inch Weber Kettles

Thanks for update on the stainless grate. I pickep up a used Slow-N-Sear as part of a great deal where it came with a Weber kettle. I can definitely see the advantages of the design of the one you bought, although I am also very happy with the quality and thick bars on the KillaGrilla grate. I just wish I had bought the single sided version that would be much more compatible with the SNS.

p.s. I see you also have the form fitting drip pan from the SNS company. Do you feel it is worth the $ vs just using foil?
 
I’d use the fitted one with foil lining for ease of cleanup. Good grief, more equipment to find space for!
I like the superior weight grate too!
 
Jon: This Dirp Pan really makes clean-up of my Weber Mastertouch easy with very little effort. I almost always line this DP with Aluminum Foil and pairs well with my SlowNSear Plus when I cook Low and Slow. IMO it is one of my best BBQ Accessories and money well-spent! I bought it when the price was $59, however, I also paid a Costa Rica Import Tax and Shipping Costs To Costa Rica in which it totaled out a little over $100. Still, it was money well spent and should last me quite of few years at it is a well-built quality product like their SLowNSear Plus and SS BBQ Grill.

The other day I used the Drip Pan without Aluminum Foil for the first time in which I Grilled a few beef steaks in which it caught all the grease drippings and after clean-up of this Drip Pan was a snap with a Brillo Pan and Liquid Dish Soap.

Of note regarding my SlowNSear Plus; I Always fill the reservoir with water when grilling or BBQing Low N Slow in order to prevent warping.

My Weber $78 SS grate came as did the mistake nickle plated one. The SS one is 5 oz. lighter at 71 oz. ( 4.5 lbs.), but nickle does weigh more than stainless so the plating must be fairly thick. But am lucky to get one to last me a year before rusting out.

The one I keep running into at $75 is the KillaGrilla and weighs in at 8 pounds for the hinged sides like the Weber. And weighs in at 9 pounds. If the Weber SS one doesn't cut it in a few years that will be my next replacement grate if they are still around. I just bought one of these for my old Weber kettle grill I can't say enough good things about it. It isn't cheap. I'm sure I paid more for it than the grill cost but I'm pretty sure its going to out last the grill and probably it's replacement. Highly recommended.

Has anyone tried this part number 80629? I am tempted but Googling a bit I see this part number also described as plated at https://www.grillspot.ca/weber-oem-nickle-plated-steel-hinged-cooking-grate-22-5-inches-80629.

Weber customer service rep said she wasn't sure what it's made out of but it's $28.05 from them.

I've got one coming from Weber as a warranty replacement. I let you know if they tell me what it's made out of. Otherwise I'll try to remember to post my findings in a couple weeks when I'm able to check it out.

Edit: Weber customer service told me the grate, 80629, is stainless. I'll check it when it arrives.

I have always found e-replacements to be very reputable. I believe it is stainless. The regular ones (useless in my opinion) are cheaper.

Would those be stainless? I would think so based on price. The Weber 8843 is sold in europe but not available here and is the GBS grate for 22.5 inch kettles and sells for about 75 bucks. Would these 2 parts be the same thing. I would almost pay that to get a GBS grate I wouldn't have to buy again. Mine is getting pretty rusty. Especially the center section.
