26.5 Owners ???

Having 2 weeks now with my 26, I'm in love!

This thing does it all, grill smoke, real estate! And it surprisingly holds temp really well!

For those on the fence, go for it.

In case this wasn't mentioned in the previous 4 pages, one other advantage of a 26" is that it can be used to store extra grates for the smaller kettles, drip pans, etc.

I've just sent an email to SMOkettle asking them for 27.75 model. I hope in a positive answer

This is the answer
Hi Enrico!
We are just getting started this year, and next year we will try to get the smaller 18.5" and the larger 26.75 in stock.
Thank you for the interest and the compliments.

Thanks for email,

Dwayne Cammon

The problem isn't that the legs are wobbly. The problem is that if you ever, ever, ever, ever move the grill by pulling on the front handle while rolling on the wheels, the leg flanges WILL BEND backwards. NEVER roll those wheels. Pick it up and carry it if you ever have to move it.

If someone offered me the choice of a free 26er or a 22.5, then I'd take the 26er.

If I had $300 of my own money to spend on a grill or two, For the same price, I'd rather have two 22.5 OTGs than one single 26er. More area to work with. More, better, cheaper toys and accessories.

I can understand the appeal of two 22" kettles over one single 26". That's what I used to use before finding my 26" on CL. But now I have a 22" OTG on the front porch, and on the back porch I've got my Performer and my 26". Yes, the big OTG is heavier and I feel the need to be extremely careful when rolling it, but no issues with the leg flanges here. My only complaint is as mentioned upthread. The 26" isn't really a "One Touch" grill, in that they use the same size sweepers as the 22". I use a lot more lump nowadays though, so ash buildup isn't much of an issue.

Thanks for that feedback, I will be pulling the trigger soon.....

I've noticed that many 26" owners on this forum love indirect cooking on it, but I'm hoping to get one for direct searing. One application I find useful for that is in making Korean galbi short ribs, which require direct high heat. When you have a large party and each guest is chomping down 2-4 pieces, you want to cook as many pieces as quickly as possible. We've hosted many of those parties in the past, and I don't know why I just chose to stand next to a cheap gas grill all day when I could have cooked the entire batch instantaneously on a 26" Weber. I learned this the hard way. Just buy it!

I looked at the 26.75 kettle at the local grill store today. It is a bit wobbly, no doubt. But man, the real estate under that heavy lid is just awesome! I don't need one, but I want one.

Yes Joe I was reading your thread, nice cook!
I want to put a bandit rotisserie on it and do up a big Turkey for Memorial Day. Of course this will be Weber # 9 and my family is Googeling Help lines for this addiction........... but they love the results of my cooks.;)

Update..... Cajun Bandit had the Rotisserie Bundle in stock so I pulled the triger on that one also...... Now to start watching for the UPS truck......................
