2002 Genesis Gold C Build

And we have flame! Pretty good for initial startup. I’ll fine tune when I’m outdoors. I will gladly take any insight into tips/tricks for that. A little bit of dancing orange on high and low.

But I took Bruce’s advice and made a little tack weld on the burner tubes to help keep a little bit of pressure to keep them from moving side to side, and a small tack where the middle tube hangs in the crossover tube to keep it aligned with the valve. Waiting for a couple things to dry up and before final assembly, a little later today 🥹😃

Cody, you can probably get rid of the orange flames by adjusting the vents on the valve end of the burner tubes. A little orange/yellow is not really a problem though.

Well it’s a wrap!! I ended up going black lid and end caps with the SS cookbox shield. Figured with the sideburner and SS lid hardware it would all tie in nicely. I think it did! Still wish that SS lid would’ve cleaned up better inside 😬

Learned a LOT on this one and am very thankful for all of your guys advice, input, opinions and support thru this project. I went a little overboard for a grill I plan to sell, but I know full well that whoever ends up with this, is buying a grill that should last another 20 years. (I have two friends who are already interested to purchase so not dealing with tire kickers could be in the cards).

Every bolt, has been reconditioned, wire wheeled or blasted, and painted to prevent rusting. In the process, I did a bunch of other hardware for my other projects so I have a bin with everything ready to go.

I’m excited to take on my next project.

Well done Cody!👌🏼

That amount of orange on a grill flame is perfectly normal and I honestly would not even touch it. Just MHO
That’s kind of what I thought. It was somewhat dancing down the tubes. And being inside I lit it, got all burners going, took a pic, turned to low and snapped another and shut it off.

PS the Votenli flavor bars, are non-magnetic and super thick. I forgot to try the burners but all issues aside, I would for sure buy them again.

The Uniflasy grates that I thought were super nice, aren’t what I was expecting. If you look at this pic, where they sit on the cookbox ledge, there are fairly large discrepancies in N/S length.

I was going to ask if the cook box was slightly warped and causing the grates to look that way, but no, it's the grates themselves.

Yeah I was pretty pissed off when I set them in and saw that. Way passed the return window though. I wonder if when they do prime days or deals if they ship back what was returned.

The tape job on the bubble wrap looked suspect, but I was so eager to get them out and into this thing, I kind of wrote it off. Then as I was looking closer, had a what tf kind of moment and knew I couldn’t send them back anymore. 😬🤬🤦🏻‍♂️
Have you ever sifted through the reviews of of the cheep Chinese SS offerings on Amazon? When they first started coming out they were pretty bad. I feel like they have come a long ways as far as construction. Obviously the SS isn't high grade for the price. For a flip though I think it's just smart business to use them. I have seen several reviews like this one😂

I have. I’ve seen many positive remarks on here for the Uniflasy grates and when I bought them, they were $30 range. So I’m not totally upset, but thought they’d be much better. I got roasted about the $20 ones for spacing, but those are far better than these are.

I know how you feel. I have been less than thrilled with the quality of a number of aftermarket grill parts I have bought over the years. I can usually get over it by looking at the money I saved vs. OEM though. Your grate thing would bother me a lot more if I was planning on keeping it for myself, I only use Weber grates on my own grills.

I agree
For myself I don't mind paying for quality. It's important to me. For a flip most buyers won't know or care. If for some reason the buyer does know or care I would offer an upgrade for more $.

I trust Qulimetal for flips and donation grills. I feel like they are good quality/value. I have purchased a lot of SS grates, flav bars and deflectors from them with no issues.
