I bought 20 bags of these, but they don’t burn nearly as hot as KBB. Even with all vents 100% it’s tough to maintain 225°

That seems strange. I've been using it for grilling and I feel like it's hotter.

You arent lighting enough. I cooked at 400 2 wks ago.

How do you store?, if it gets real moist around here my coal burns different than in summer.
