A 3lb + Tri Tip Trimmed by the Butcher and then again by me.

Stater Bros beef is select grade. Not sure about a tri-tip (read somewhere that select tri-tip is just about as good as choice or prime), but generally speaking - we don't buy beef there.
Love their $.89 lb whole chickens, though.

I've grilled Select, Choice, and Prime tri tips and couldn't tell much, if any, difference.
 
Family has been buying from Stater since they opened their first OC store in Anaheim... very late 50s / very early 60s. Great produce. Meat can be hit or miss. Depends upon which Stater you shop at...

I don't eat beef very often other than the Tri Tip Sous Vide I'm experimenting with.

Im a chicken,pork,fish guy.

When i feel comfortable with the Sous Vide ill cook a nice 2" thick Prime Rib Eye for sure.

You have to start somewhere.....:george:
