I will just leave this here

Thanks for that heads-up on the warped firebox. Coincidentally, I'm going over to look at a buddy's weber that took off on him with excess grease and he used the fire extinguisher on it! Good thing to know to look for! He said flames were leaping 2 foot out the top! He wants me to clean it and...

I will just leave this here

Turns out after I cleaned it, it was only half rusty! But in the meantime, THIS (pic attached) followed me home! Needs a crossover tube and igniter and a real heavy cleaning. The 3000LX smoked for 45 minutes, 15 of which was without the gas on, it was so dirty. Pegged the hood thermometer with...

    Genesis 2 restoration complete!

I used the ones from e-bay like you have last week for the same problem and they worked flawlessly. Maybe I was lucky. 2" long bolts are needed, I found that out. But hey, spray the ends and inside of the tube with rustoleum. It will slow the rust from leaking back out after assembly. Be sure to...

Looking for advice regarding fire box cleanliness

I couldn't figure out how to unscrew it, but I looked hard at that possibility. I took your good advice instead and went to the local hardware store that sells Weber. Lo and Behold, an orphaned Spirit with all its' parts intact hopped into the back of my truck! I then went inside and bought the...

Looking for advice regarding fire box cleanliness

I'm still using that old style connector! It reminds me of taking connections off of acetylene/oxygen bottles back in the day. I even found an old wrench made just for the purpose, so 'old-school' up one side and down the other! All lpg gas tanks have the internal threads to this day.

I will just leave this here

Got it today: P.S.: I've never seen an un-rusty in-hood rack, unless it was new. Has anyone? This has one toward the back, not the front, as you can see in the pic.

Looking for advice regarding fire box cleanliness

To the point of this thread, I just brought home that Weber I posted last night. It has one of those old-style, plug-it-into-the-tank connections. I salvaged a current-style hose off of a similar three burner unit, but by eye, it appears the connecting nut on the new style is bigger than the...

Looking for advice regarding fire box cleanliness

I used oven cleaner on my last refurb. On the inside of the hood. It won't pit if you do not leave it on for an extended period of time. Hint: On days like these when that sun is beating down, just set it in the sun for a few hours and apply the oven cleaner after the parts get good and hot...

    A rare one

Too bad, indeed: You could've made a side tray out of that lid before you tossed it! Cut the front middle of the lid out and you even have the right striping!

    Wire wheel cup brush technique?

Don't use any coarser brush than as shown. I have a heavier-wire cup and it left noticeable swirls that sanded out, fortunately. But it was no fun having to take the extra step.

Newbie with a case of Webertiveitis I have a few general questions

I am in the throes of a similar situation with a Genesis 1000 silver (Green Top) and sticky push down valve detents. Luckily, a little lube on the top stem fixed everything wonderfully. Ah, but it has rusted frame 'hold-togethers'. Y'know, those inserts that go inside the legs and a bolt goes...

    How about some good news?

I crashed my drone this morning, but after a re-start, it's back from the dead! A savings of $500! I put my snowblower away and got out the lawnmower, grass needs cutting. I'm refurbishing a Weber Genesis Spirit for a fellow who's going to pay me for it! It's gonna make 70 degrees here today! I...
