No big WSM sale this year?

Yes they do. One thing I did to my cover was cut the elastic. Makes getting it on and off alot easier and it still fits fairly snug.

Help! Lump vs briqs for my 1st smoke

Don't think you'll have a problem, 20lbs should be enough but I'd rather have extra just incase. Another cheap alternative is Royal Oak lump, theirs bags are 8.8 or 10 lbs and run about $6.38 here at Wal-Mart. I rarely go there but have used it with no real problems.

Help! Lump vs briqs for my 1st smoke

I'm not a WSM vet by any means, only have 4 cooks under my belt but I can tell you what I've experienced thus far. I've used regular Kingsford with great success. Cooked 2 boston butts and used about 8-9lbs of charcoal. Even had a few briquettes left afterwards. I have yet to use my lump in my...

Looking into purchacing the 18.5 bullet

I bought some from the Academy, opted for the higher priced $12.99 ones and was pleased with them this past weekend. If you're looking online, can't go wrong with these. http://texasbbqrub.com/bbqgloves.htm

Looking into purchacing the 18.5 bullet

I've owned my 18.5 WSM for a week now and have used it twice with great success. Don't think you can go wrong with it in my opinion. If it's just you and your wife, I suppose the 18.5 could be a little big but you never know what else you may want to throw on when you start smoking. So a little...

    Stable Temps

Cooked on my new 18.5 WSM this weekend twice and had no issues with temps. If you're waiting to 235 to start adjusting the bottom vents, you're going to have a hard time IMO. Start adjusting the bottom vents at around 200 and you'll find it much easier I think. My first cook was a test run...

My First Cook -- 10 Things I Learned

I've been meaning to look for these. Was just at Lowe's this morning getting a piece for my well and totally forgot to take a peak in the grilling section for these.

    Welcome back from Athens, GA!

I joined just a few days before the switch to vB. My smoker arrived while the forums were closed so I just wanted to let you all know about my first two experiences on the 18.5 WSM. First was Saturday afternoon, smoked 6 chicken leg quarters for 2 hours. Held at 250 with no water, no problems...

    "Old" versus "New" 18.5" WSM

My 18.5'' WSM arrives tomorrow. I was planning on using water the first couple of smokes as recommended. Afterwards, what if I were to just leave the pan empty and foiled? Will this not work? Maybe run too hot?

    Question for new owners (Cover)

I'm playing my order tomorrow at work and it should arrive on the truck Wednesday. I've read conflicting reports on the newer units being shipped with covers. While others didn't receive covers. Was just wondering, did you guys get one with yours? If not, could you guys recommend the best place...

    My first WSM cook....babybacks,,,,

Looks good to me man, nicely done on your first try! I'm debating on ribs or a pork butt for my first cook next weekend. Not sure if you've got an Academy Sports around but I just left there with a big bag of Pecan and Hickory chunks for $4.49 a piece.

    Prepping for first overnight cook.

I have heard this as well, so I always go straight from the refrigerator to the smoker. Always makes for a pretty good smoke ring.
