Does the brand of charcoal really matter

I hope it doesn't matter much, I have a little bit to use up from last year...

Comparison of Summit, Genesis, and Spirit grills

I bought a Weber Genesis last fall, I love it... Got one to match my brick red Performer, which I also love. Genesis feels very solid (as it is), and heats up very quick. Used it yesterday to make some steaks in less time than it would have taken the coals to ash. I love the process of cooking...

My new build from a Jumbo Joe (Jimmy) Jumbo Mini

I guess the new style is just a hair smaller, the grate from a 18" kettle fits the new Jumbo Joe but not the old Platinum Smokey Joe.

My new build from a Jumbo Joe (Jimmy) Jumbo Mini

Yes it is... I'll try and remember tonight, this is the best I have for now though, 18.5 to the outside.

My new build from a Jumbo Joe (Jimmy) Jumbo Mini

I have an unused Smokey Joe Platinum I'd love to do this with, anyone know if this pot would fit that as well? I know the grate doesn't fit (too small).

    Platinum Performer hood mod

I should clarify that's just a photo I found looking for an open cover Performer. :)

    Platinum Performer hood mod

Here's an example with it open, and before buying one I pictured myself standing in front of the grill itself, but in reality I stand where the table is and don't find the cover to be in the way at all.

What are the advantages of a WSM over a Kettle w/Smokenator (other method)?

Thanks Regina, and again Rolf that does help a lot... I think at this time it's definitely more a of 'want' than a need... guess I'll keep it on the wish list unless a screaming deal happens to pop up near me. I really appreciate the input!

My Mini WSM build complete with flying saucer

Love that look, and your version looks just as sharp as his - nice work.

What are the advantages of a WSM over a Kettle w/Smokenator (other method)?

Thank you Rolf, how often were you smoking before the WSM and how often afterward? Just curious how we compare, I could see if I did it often that it would become an annoyance, but for the couple times I've done it I've enjoyed it for the most part. That said, I'm also interested to see if you...

What are the advantages of a WSM over a Kettle w/Smokenator (other method)?

Thank you Dwain, I appreciate the feedback... probably sound advice until I find I'm smoking more often. Right now it's only been 2 cooks since I got my kettle in April.

What are the advantages of a WSM over a Kettle w/Smokenator (other method)?

I have a 22" kettle (Weber Performer) and have been considering adding a Smokey Mountain to the mix, but I'm curious... other than sheer capacity, is there a clear advantage for the occasional long cook? I realize there may (will) be more fiddling, adding coals, monitoring heat, etc with a...

how much will a brisket feed?

I bought an 8lb brisket and it fed 5 adults and 7 kids (ages 2-10) with some left over, and that was with a couple people going back for seconds.

    Platinum Performer hood mod

I'm a lefty, doesn't bother me at all... though there are times I wonder why they didn't just make it go back at maybe a 45* angle or something. Then again I'm 6'2 so that may be an issue for shorter people lol.

    New Genesis Help... Nonstick?

Congrats on the anniversary and new Genesis, one heck of a gift! I find turkey burgers a little more tricky as they aren't as greasy as regular burgers, so I like to lightly coat the patties with olive oil just before putting them on the grill.

    Gourmet BBQ System

My wife got me the griddle/grate set for m birthday, since then I've added the sear grate as well - love the system, easy to clean and works very well. I hope to add the wok one day.
