    Char Grill Duo

I just sold my Chargriller w/side box. I did all kinds of modifications to it. I loved the cast iron grates. But I never liked using it as a smoker. It used fuel like stoking a boiler. I don't miss it.

    Performer ignition issue

I have a 2008 Performer and I can smell I am getting fuel when I open the valve. But it won't ignite. I am thinking about taking it apart this week. It almost has to be the ignition spark. Is there anyway to clean this. I have never had it apart. Thanks Brian

Arnie that sound like a great idea, I work at a GM dealer so I will raid the nut and bollt bin.I will get some high heat engine paint and touch it up and buff it out. Redhead Johnsonville yardsale find/handle problem

I just picked up a red 22.5 on the way home from church today. The bowl and the lid are in pretty good shape. The lady wanted $20 for it. The handle came off the lid, so I got it for $10. Has anyone ever tack welded or riveted a handle back on? The lid has "Johnsonville" stenciled on it. Anyone...

    Totally unbelievable !

I purchased a new 26" a couple of months ago. The bottom bowl had large bubbles of paint or porcelain. The fins on the one touch would barely move. I called and rec'd a new bowl in three days. I thought it would come assembled, with the one touch blades. Mine we bent, so I called and they sent...

    cold weather grilliing idea.

I had a Thermometer mounted in the lid of my Brinkman. The lid temp dropped from 300 down to about 140 when it was pouring rain down on it. I lifted off lid to check the meat and I had a round pie tin catching grease under the meatloaf. The rain splattered the grease down into the fire and I had...

    cold weather grilliing idea.

On a 22.5 Kettle the 26.5 fits right over the top. It is a little unstable since the 26.5 lid is sitting on the 22.5 handle underneath. On the EL Cheapo Brinkman it is very unstable. But if the wind is not blowing I have left it on to raise the temps. I just keep a eye on it all all times.

    cold weather grilliing idea.

I am sure that others have brought up this simple solution but I will share it. When it gets really cold here in Wisconsin I sometimes have trouble maintaining temperatures. About 5 years ago I was making meatloaf in my Brinkman at about midnight we had a torrential downpour. I had and extra lid...

    First smoke, trouble with temps

Todd, I have cooked when it is 10 degrees up to 80 degrees and I always keep roughly 225-275. I dump about a chimney and a half unlit into the bottom. I light a whole chimney and put it on top. I leave it for a couple of minutes and assemble the smoker. I leave vents wide open for the first...

    Good grill brush?

I currently have a Weber grill brush. But in about a year it is full of gunk and wore down. I have been using the ball of foil trick so far this spring. Does anyone have any ideas for a really good brand grill brush?

    Burgers on the performer :(

Adam don't be discouraged, my wife brought home frozen patties for me a couple weeks ago. I tried everything to make them taste good. Last Friday I made my own patties. I banked a chimney starter of coals on one side of the kettle. I seared the burgers on each side for a couple of minutes, and...

    Help please with tomorrows turkey

Deb, I did one turkey on the rotisserie and one on my 18" WSM for Thanksgiving. I started the WSM up a few hour earlier because I was cooking at a lower temp. I have done a couple dozen turkeys on the WSM. That turned out great. The one on the performer with the rotisserie I had problems with. I...

    Is sprayed fruit wood safe?

He gave me the wood in April so I am sure it had not been sprayed for over 6 months. I have a abundance of maple, cherry and oak. For some reason apple has been hard to find. I am going to find out tomorrow what he uses for spray.

    Is sprayed fruit wood safe?

One of my co-workers gave me a bunch of apple, and pear wood. A few weeks later he mentioned he was going to spray his fruit trees for bugs. Are the limbs he pruned and gave me safe to use in my smoker? Sorry if this has been brought up before.
