    Firestorm boom

Not surprising. Even though the human tragedy is similar between LA and Paradise, when the second largest city in America burns, it's going to generate more media attention. That's just the nature of news and human attention to things. Few ever heard of Paradise or have a connection to it, but...

2020 Weber SmokeFire vs. Industry Standards

2020 Weber SmokeFire vs. Industry Standards This is an interesting single-page brochure in which Weber describes what they consider "industry standards" when it comes to pellet grills and comparing those to the "SmokeFire Difference" when it comes to the features, benefits and "fun facts" of...

No politics, please, when discussing the topic of California wildfires. As some of you know, in 2023 I moved back to my childhood hometown of Santa Rosa, CA after being away for 40 years, to be closer to my Dad and siblings. In 2017, this community of about 175,000 people experienced the Tubbs...

    Smoking in the rain

You posted this in the WSM subforum so I assume you’re cooking on a WSM. More likely the water entering the cooker is running down the lid and entering between the lid and middle section. A very very light rain is usually no problem, just make sure you’ve got enough hot charcoal in the cooker...

    New (& old) WSM owner

27 years of cooking on the 18” WSM and I’ve never seen a single pork butt so large that it won’t fit on the top grate. As others have suggested, perhaps a pork shoulder (unseparated butt+picnic)?

    New WSM

22” WSM is notorious for gaps between middle and bottom sections. Try gently bending back into shape as suggested by Colin. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to fill the gaps. Weber warranty doesn’t extend to you as second owner, so a replacement part should not be expected and you may just get...

    Cold Smoked Cheese

I don’t recall anyone smoking cream cheese all those years ago when I wrote that article. Occasionally there are new ideas!

Standing rib roast "prime rib" for Christmas question

Brett has it about right, applying some salt overnight allows it to penetrate and enhance the meat in a good way. Any herbs you choose to add are up to you. It won't turn out pickled or corned. Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great.

Christmas gift -- a new pacemaker

No specific advice on pacemakers, but as encouragement I'll share with you that my father, 84 years old and in generally good health, had scheduled elective triple bypass open heart surgery earlier this year, and while it was like he'd been hit by a truck after the surgery, his positivity and...

How to Stop a Chevrolet Equinox with Brake Failure

No, the work order says P0595. So thanks for figuring out that error for me, I could not understand how a cruise control error code would lead to a brake system failure! The info you provided gives me more confidence about the repair made and driving the vehicle moving forward.

Texas > Plano: True Texas BBQ at H-E-B Supermarket

Well...I was driving, so no beer in the H-E-B parking lot. Don't want to get a DUI while out of state!🚔 Don't know if you saw my other posts, but we enjoyed world-class barbecue at Cattleack BBQ in Dallas and Goldee's BBQ in Fort Worth. We'll be back for more at some point down the...

    SNL 50 seasons

If you've been watching SNL for 50 years, you'll recognize the best of the best skits featured on this show. I'm blown away that TV Guide still exists! My family was too cheap to subscribe, we relied on the free TV schedule insert that came in the Sunday newspaper. Remember when newspapers...
