About a pound an hour. That's the kind of answer I was looking for.
Also a good data point that you can get pellets for $15/40 lb shipped. (oooo....what is the definition of "in bulk?")
As for charcoal, read All About Charcoal. Stick to a quality name-brand briquette (i.e., Kingsford) and you don't have to worry about anything being in the charcoal that is toxic or an unnecessary filler.
As for the pellet-pooper, don't confuse a pellet grill and a pellet smoker. I'll admit...
Keep in mind that it only updates once every minute or so. I haven't measured the exact time. The light on the transmitter flashes, and the little parabolic reflector antenna icon on the receiver momentarily flashes. I think it updates a little faster when the temperature is changing rapidly...
Is there a pellet cooker (vs. a grill which, although they say you can smoke on, I imagine is a compromise) available for "only" $1300? I though the FEC 100 was the smallest pellet-fed cooker/smoker on the market.
Greg Rempe was interviewing a guy with another internet "radio" show on BBQ...
Anyone have an approximate pellet burn rate for the Fast Eddy Cooker FEC 100? Just for "typical" smoking temperatures. I realize the type of wood, temperature and such will make a difference.
I was just curious at what it costs to operate. Especially if I have to mail order pellets.
Yeah...that seems off. I can carry mine anywhere in my two-story wood-frame house, and even to spots in the front yard, with the cooker on the back patio, and get the updates. I certainly have no problem with the receiver inside in the family room (in the back of the house) and the cooker on...
I moved to southern New Mexico from central Florida a little over a year ago. When I got the grill and charcoal chimney in Florida, I always wondered what I was doing wrong. Instructions and experts would say you use one piece of newspaper, and you have blazing hot coals in 10 minutes or so...

For father's day, I got a Maverick ET-73. I did what I always do when I have a new cooking thermometer. I put it in a pot of water and heat it up to boiling to check that it works.
I had both the food probe and smoker probe in the water as the water came to a boil. I pulled the probes out...
Well, the signature lists a 26".
When I got my 22", I was afraid it was overkill for just me and my wife (and now, my son), but lately, when I want to make one side indirect heat, and the other, direct, I've been wishing for a bigger grill.
We were passing by the grills in Home Despot when the Performer caught my wife's eye, and an almost involuntary "ooooOOOO!!!" came out of her mouth.
Good sign, right?
I have a 22" One Touch Silver right now. The table was the first thing that caught her attention and she commented on. She...
What is the charcoal ring in the Weber made from? Steel, I presume?
My fear with Wolgast's aluminum ring is that it may actually melt.
A few years ago for Christmas, I received this doodad that was a cast aluminum Auburn University logo (my alma mater). It mounts to the grill grate and is...

2. I've searched around and have read about the debate...
Larry,
Tell us about the sweet potato chips. Do you just slice them and put them on the grill (I assumed with some seasoning), or are you oiling them, or doing something else to them?
Do you give a lot of time for that cast iron grate to get hot before grilling?
You don't make anything easy for Beagle. We know.
Now, why my wife continues to get upset when Aubie eats her chapstick after leaving her purse in the same place over and over again, I don't understand.
