    Placement of Clay Saucer

I go with a well foiled clay saucer and no water pan in my 18.5 WSM.

    Paloma

Hey Mark R! This recipe looks real good to me! Can't wait to try it! By the way, finding grapefruit soda won't be too hard. Just look for Squirt at your local market.

    ATC Reccomendation

I love my PartyQ! It does the job and I no longer feel the need to babysit my 18.5. Once the target temp settles in, it's rock solid.

    Please Be Kind: Post Respectfully

Thanks Chris for this timely post! A few posts have been a bit abrasive lately and it's made feel a bit uncomfortable. This is great place to be and I would sure be sad if it went to the dark side! linda

    Throwdown #25: Baked Beans

I wonder how may TVWBBers are gonna make Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans, AKA, BBITU (best baked beans in the universe!)? :wsm:

How cold does it have to be for you to not BBQ?

Umm, being your typical, laid-back Angeleño, I'd say mid-50s or so. If I had a parka I think I could go to perhaps 49, but that would be extreme! ;) As for too hot, it's never too hot in California!

    Dried Jalapenos?

My hubster brought home a jar of dried jalapeños from Penzey's. This was a while back but I'll bet they probably still carry them.

    Party Q, anyone using it??

I got one last summer for my 18.5 WSM and it works quite well. I use rechargable batteries and have had no problem with the battery life. My PartyQ is easy to set and once everything settles in, it holds the temp steady. No more anxious hovering over the cooker and messing with the vents!

    Re-useable Crutch Pans?

One more thought! Cast iron works really good. I've put my Le Creuset in there witn no probems at all. linda

    Re-useable Crutch Pans?

Hi Clay, I'm not a big fan of disposable pans (I do use them on occasion), so I mostly use a small baking pan in my 18.5. I also have a casserole dish that works quite well. Glass or ceramic bakeware is fine. If it can handle the oven, the WSM isn't going to do any harm. Just don't drop it! :o...

    Frostie Paws for dogs...

My girl Beanie absolutely loves her homemade frosty paws! My Seamus is usually not a picky boy, but he seems a bit indifferent to them. Until Beanie tries to get his, then he's all over it! I like them too! Sometimes we have an ice cream social out in the backyard. Ya gotta love dogs!

Will a coffee grinder grind dried Hot peppers along with the seeds

Well I'm no expert, but since coffee grinders with the little spinning blades can also grind spices, I think I'd try it and see. It's really more like chopping as opposed to a burr grinder, but I think you could get your peppers chopped to a very fine dust-like quality if you wanted to.

Smoked Chicken (aka beer in the rear chicken)

Thank you Donna! You've given me what I wanted to know. I'm for sure going to try a chicken with Tang very soon. The Tang Mango sounds like a plan. Thanks again for your time and advice! linda

Smoked Chicken (aka beer in the rear chicken)

Hi Donna! Earlier in this thread you mentioned using Tang on your beer butt chicken. How does that work? Do you add it to the rub or is a separate application? I never would have thought of using Tang on my own, but I'd sure like to try it! Thanks for taking time out of your busy life to...

Grilling corn in foil. Any advice?

I really want to thank all of you for your advice and tips for me on my little extravaganza! Although due to the prevailing "this is how we do it here" restrictions, I have to cook it the CBYC way, I've learned lots of good stuff and plan to try some of the tips at home. I feel confident that...

Grilling corn in foil. Any advice?

Hi All! My yacht club is holding our annual Lobster Feast this Saturday and I have been appointed "Queen of Corn!" I'm usually a lobster runner and have not done this job before. I may or may not have help. The traditonal preparation, which I will not be allowed to deviate from, is rub the...
