No brainer at 50% of new price, given the rarity in finding them used. I’d jump on it if it showed up on the local market, even at that price.

Important note - the WSM is the 18.5 inch size, not 22.

I think that was a large part (if not all) of your temp problem. The width of the 22s water pan acted as both a thermal barrier and airflow restrictor, both of which have a direct impact on temps. In the future use NO water pan, keep everything else the same, and you’ll reach the temps you want.

I may have missed it in your post, but did you have the water pan in the smoker while cooking the turkey?

If I were you I’d jump on this one. Not a bad deal for the ATL market. I’m already 5-6 grills over my limit or I’d already have this.

I paid $50 for the EXACT same grill. In the same or better condition. Yep - way overpriced.

That grill is going to need a LOT of love, elbow grease, and a few bucks. Looks like it was left outside quite a bit, so somehow the other person passes on it and you get an opportunity, check the condition of the frame - especially at the front (smaller) wheels. That area has a tendency to...

You *can* use a charcoal grate for the 22.5" kettle, as they are ultra cheap ($10.99) and readily available at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. I would clean and season thoroughly before use because the metal isn't ready to cook on as is.
