Has Weber outsourced its customer support?

My daughter is a licensed pharmacist. Once ran a pharmacy in a large supermarket. She now works for an insurance company taking phone calls at home answering medication questions. And makes over six figures doing it. While I have my own frustrations with outsourced phone support not all of it is...

How long do most of you get from a full restoration

Bruce, you make good points. My grill is ugly again but still works great. To do a full restore to make it look good requires taking it out of commission for a longer period of time then I would want, especially this time of year.

How long do most of you get from a full restoration

Thanks everyone. I guess I can't complain then getting 8 years with no touch ups in that time. Hope to get to it again this summer.

How long do most of you get from a full restoration

I have a Genesis 1000 bought new in late 90's. Did a complete restoration in 2014. Now seven years later it looks like it needs another. It sits outside but is always covered when not in use. Left hand frame rail is complete rust and needs another paint job on the cook box. Used high heat...

    Genesis 1000 tank scale w/pointer

I worked in a real hardware store here in NW NJ for twenty years before retiring. We sold all that kind of stuff. Had an entire wall of parts draws with you name it. When I restored my Gen 1000 got everything I needed there. Only thing I didn't get was the right size spring for the scale. We...

Storing sauces in the fridge ?

I agree. So I take my sauces out an hour before I use them. Let them get to room temp.

*RESTORED* Tackling my First Restore - Genesis 1000

Line the drip tray with aluminum foil after filling the holes. Every few months change out the foil. I would use plumbers putty epoxy. Can take the heat of an engine block. Also dries in about 10 minutes.

    Painting a rehabbed Genesis 1000

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like we'll be doing refurb part 2 this summer.

    Painting a rehabbed Genesis 1000

Speaking of paint. I refuerbished my Gen 1000 about five years ago. Repainted the outside of the firebox with Rustolem high heat paint. Now it is all flaking off. Any better paint to use? I'll have to take the grill apart and do it all over again. Not to mention, the left side frame cross member...

    Propane Exchange vs Refill

Wow, interesting reading how prices vary around the country. I worked at a local independent hardware store for 23 years. Filling propane tanks was one of my daily jobs. Here in NJ most places charge a fixed price. Now and for the last 10 years or so my store charges $17.99 for a 20 lb fill...

Quality time with my old Genesis 2

Thanks for posting that link Larry. Just what I needed. One question. I have some Permatex Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lube. Doesn't give the main ingredient. Went to the web site and read all 17 pages of the safety data sheet. only said it was a synthetic semi solid lube that was a trade secret...

Vieluxe: The Weber Luxury Gas Grill You've Probably Never Heard Of

The question is........... will it cook food or make it taste any better the a restored $50 grill. All that fancy sheet metal is only eye candy.

    Solvent for Weber paint

Try Zip Strip. If that doesn't do it nothing will. Solvents like lacquer or paint thinner only work to clean brushes when the paint is still wet.

    Solvent for Weber paint

Any paint stripper should work. Usually it's a gel type product that you brush on and let sit until it starts to lift the paint.
