Bruce, you make good points. My grill is ugly again but still works great. To do a full restore to make it look good requires taking it out of commission for a longer period of time then I would want, especially this time of year.

I agree. So I take my sauces out an hour before I use them. Let them get to room temp.

Line the drip tray with aluminum foil after filling the holes. Every few months change out the foil. I would use plumbers putty epoxy. Can take the heat of an engine block. Also dries in about 10 minutes.

The question is........... will it cook food or make it taste any better the a restored $50 grill. All that fancy sheet metal is only eye candy.

Try Zip Strip. If that doesn't do it nothing will. Solvents like lacquer or paint thinner only work to clean brushes when the paint is still wet.

Any paint stripper should work. Usually it's a gel type product that you brush on and let sit until it starts to lift the paint.

So far I haven't found the 9857 cover. And really don't want a $70 cover. Looking for something more affordable. But the main thing is it keeps the water out, since my grill is out in the open. Greg M is your cover dry inside and what is the price?

Except if you buy a new tank and refill it you have a nice new tank. Not and old recycled one that could rupture at any time. At out store we've had exchange tanks that a customer wanted refilled and had the bottoms blow out when pressure was put to them.

So how much do you have to pay for the exchange tank? Here in NJ they charge $20 or more for a 20lb tank exchange tank. But they only fill them to 15 lbs. And you get an old recycled tank that could be 20 or 30 years old. A 20 lb tank takes 20lbs. of propane which equals about 3.5 gallons. $3.58...
