The obsession begins - WSM 22.5 first smoke

The cook was finished successfully. The ribs moist and tender though not entirely fall off the bone. One of my sons and I really enjoyed the ribs while my wife and other son found them a bit too spicy. I also found the smoke to be a little strong. For my next rib cook I will try reducing...

Newbie - just bought a WSM!

Welcome Mickey. I just bought a WSM 2 days ago and finished my first cook yesterday. I would suggest reading everything you can find on the Virtual Weber Bullet site and then as much as you can on the forum. I spent about 2 weeks reading before my first cook and it went super smooth.

    Who's smokin' this weekend?

I have two racks of baby back ribs on the WSM right now. I am also planning to throw something on (probably chicken) on Sunday for CFL game day. Grey Cup East and West semi finals. Woot!!! Go Stamp Go!!!

The obsession begins - WSM 22.5 first smoke

Well I am 3.5 hrs into the cook and the ribs are looking great. They are not passing the tear test but I did not expect that they would. I have been basting with apple juice every 30 min since the 3 hr point. I am hoping they will be done at 4.5hrs. I am very surprised at how easy it is to...

The obsession begins - WSM 22.5 first smoke

I will have to read the post on how to link photos. I have taken a few so far for posting once I figure it out. SWMBO is at work today (I'm off) so if I have everything timed right the ribs will be done as she walks in the door.

The obsession begins - WSM 22.5 first smoke

Me and my twin 3 year old boys build our new WSM 22.5 this morning and now it's time to cook. For my first cook I am doing two racks of extra meaty baby backs using the basic baby back ribs recipe. Prep of the ribs went well. Membranes removed, mustard and rub applied. I'm not sure I used...

Hello for the Great White North

Christmas came early. SWMBO told me to go buy the WSM 22.5 I want. And good think too. The CFL playoffs start this Sunday with the Grey Cup finals on Nov 24. My wife is awesome. :) Tomorrow will be the inaugural smoke of two racks of baby backs. I foresee some football game day cooks...

Buying used WSM - what to look for?

Well thanks everyone. It is true that wsm's don't last long on kijiji. Before I was able to go see the used WSM it sold. But the story does not end here. Today I went a bought a brand new WSM 22.5. And tomorrow I have two racks of baby backs for my first smoke.

Buying used WSM - what to look for?

Hey all. I have found a really good price on a WSM on kijiji, but before I go look at it what should I be looking out for? The seller says it is a year old, only has done 10 cooks on it and the outside is in good shape. No pics of any real value to help assess its condition.

    Charcoal pricing in Canada

I have read a few threads on charcoal pricing but they seem to all be for pricing and best places to buy in the good old USA. I'm not sure how many Canucks are out there but what sort of pricing and what are the best stores for but charcoal in Canada?

Hello for the Great White North

Hey all. I'm Craig. I have been a lurker on this site for a while now and thought I should make an account. I have been a gas griller for the majority of my life with the exception of my much younger years when I watched my dad fuss and fret over his charcoal grill before going to gas. I don't...
