Smokin' on the beach! Pic heavy.

So, It's been a really long, difficult summer for me, so I haven't really had time to post lately. I decided it was time to get away. Met some friends at their condo in Daytona. A much needed lamecation. I thought this might be the perfect return post. I'll cut to the chase now... For my dream...

    Congrats 'Sconsin and Mr. Lampe!

Way to go badgers! And go big ten! Our local am sports radio host is a hometown guy and a Kentucky grad. All I've heard all season is Kentucky blah blah blah... Glad to see your team knock them off with a (not so) huge upset. Buckeye fan till I die. Wisconsin fan Monday night!

Has anyone ever seen or used these?

Saws these at the local blowes store today. I don't like their charcoal, but thought I would give these a try. Hopefully I'll get to try them tomorrow. If anyone has any info not them, feel free to post it here. Thx for looking...

My first crack at the Yak!

Yakitori chicken that is! I used the recipe from the weber app. I'll get to the good stuff. Here we go... Finally got around to breaking out my vintage, Weber jumbo skewer set. All the fixins. Happy and resting. Time to put some meat over fire! After a few spins. Just...

Latest semi-vintage weber find and a Yakitori question?...

This started as a quest to find a gourmet system and hopefully with the sear grate. After a couple Google searches and a few phone calls, I was able to locate a full blown weber dealer! After a talk with the "outdoor sales dept", I was able to ascertain they had at least the basic gourmet grate...

    Just some ribs

Going on a short car trip today, so I have a little free time and decided to post some ribs I made a few weeks back. I picked up a used kettle for $15 back in November for my rotiss set up. For the rotiss kettle's maiden voyage, I decided to use my ribolator. Hadn't used that gadget in a while...

Pulled pork for the princess's party

My daughter's third birthday party was yesterday. You know what that means?! Daddy's allowed to fire up the webers! I picked up two, ten pound Boston butts, and a six pound beef chuck blade roast. One butt was for the party, the other one and the beef were for us for later. Here we go...

    Technical weber question-Info needed please.

Just wondering if anyone knew off hand, what the distance between the charcoal grate and the bottom of the cooking grate on a 22 1/2" kettle? I'm looking to make a charcoal basket the same diameter as the gourmet system opening. That way I can light the basket on my big burner and drop the...

Just a couple cooks on my new gourmet system.

Haven't had much time or much to post lately, but I finally broke down and got me that fancy gourmet set up. First cook was just some simple burgs... Smothered in A-1 and carmalized onions Next run was some ny strips. Mine was marinated in garlic expressions dressing and stubbs...

My daughter and our new kettle

We got a new kettle today and my daughter got to help me out. The boss found a deal on this and couldn't help herself. Who was I to complain? Ha ha! Fooled you! Lol. But the lil BBQ pitmaster in training loves it! She even got the "gourmet" system before I did! And like all...

I'm in the market for a new set up was wondering everyone's thoughts on either/both. Does anyone have or had both? Just curious. I plan to order Xmas morning. Lol. Thx

Opinions on a new heat deflector. Diamond encrusted! No really...

How's that for an attention getter? Lol. But seriously, it does have diamonds on it! It's an old 14" diamond concrete saw blade. Good for cutting butter now, better as a heat shield! I think the slots around the edge look neat and its a perfect diameter. It's also tool steel, so it...

My Browns mini 2.0 - New mods

So after a test run and one spatched bird later, I've made a few tweaks to the mini. Let's see how well they work this time around. Lol. First, I started by taking about 5" off the total height of my drum. I forgot to take a pic of this part, but I notched all around the bottom of the drum and...

    Homemade 3 in 1 stacker/rotiss/kettle pizza ring.

The other half's cousin just got a 22 1/2" kettle and did a turkey on it for bird day. I decided to make him a stacker ring and get him going down the weber Jedi path. A good burn in and seasoning and he's good to go. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it. Thanks for looking.

Thankful for finding this site and my webers!

Along with all the standard things we are all thankful for at this time of year, I am also very thankful I discovered this site! It has really accelerated my cooking skills and ideas. It has unfortunately also made me increase the amount of webers I now own as well! Could be worse... Happy...

    Browns mini test fire

Finally got around to the test fire. Nothing fancy. Overloaded with sharcoals and wood chunks. Hickory and mesquite. Half a chimney of lit. All put together for the first time under heats! My butcher gave me a hunk of fat for free for the cause! Then I scavenged the freezer for...

Browns mini atc controller set up

I figured if I was making a 14 1/2" "WSM", I might as well put my old party q on it! I went to pitmaster 110 on my 22 1/2" WSM. This little guy should be perfect for the mini. Here's the fan mount. I used a 3/8" steel street elbow with a 3/8" brass barbed end fitting. The guru fan actually...

    My Browns mini in progress...

Well here's my version of a mini WSM. I will eventually build a steamer pot mini mini, but as for right now, this is what I got so far... First coat was grill paint. Didn't realize it was flat. I took a cooking grate from a $15 craigslist kettle I just picked up (that's another post) and...

    My Browns mini Sunday smoker.

I recently came across a vintage, NFL edition, Cleveland Browns, Smokey Joe grill. It's so old, it has no perks! Basics only. I'm making this a hybrid portable grill/ 14 1/2" WSM/ mini smoker. I'm not going the steamer pot route. I got the "16" gallon drum for free. Here is the first pic afte...
