Latest semi-vintage weber find and a Yakitori question?...

This started as a quest to find a gourmet system and hopefully with the sear grate. After a couple Google searches and a few phone calls, I was able to locate a full blown weber dealer! After a talk with the "outdoor sales dept", I was able to ascertain they had at least the basic gourmet grate. His next comment was, "but we have a full display of weber accessories!"
That's all it took for me to pack up the kids and Gramma and drive 45 minutes to the rural ace hardware and take my chances... Not only did I find a weber Eutopia, I found a hidden treasure. Just like those described by other weber adventurers before me! Enough babble, here it is!

One, circa 1996, Weber jumbo, six skewer rack set up!

Here it is all set up.

Original price was $23.99. Super clearance price out the door?... $8! No brainer to me! That find made it worth the trip. And like all good BBQ ventures...$100 plus later, I was at the register! :/

Now after all the hooplah, my question is, is this not the perfect set up for yakitori chicken?I've never made it, but have seen many a post on the subject at hand. Gourmet grate removed, skewers over top? Sounds like the right deal to me.

Hope you enjoyed my long winded and overly big worded post about nothing. Any tips on yak chix will be greatly appreciated. If you haven't guessed by now, it will be my next post. Thanks for looking.

Great score John! That should work perfect for the yakitori. You say you have never made it, boy you're missing out on some good stuff. After the yakitori challenge Barb and I have it in our regular rotation of at least once a month.
Check out the sticky in the photo gallery for some good yakitori recipes.

Sounds like a fun outing and something that my wife and I would do. ACE seems to have a really good supply of Weber. Orchard Supply does too, but I'm not sure if they are national. Sure don't see why that set up wouldn't work for Yakitori Chicken.

Congrats! This will work well for Yaki, John. I have a similar product (not Weber, but very similar) and works great for every kabobs
