You have to love targeted advertising

I love when the Google places ads on a food site (this Board) thinking, well, food is just food.

Either they're telling me I need to lose weight, or that grilling and BBQ isn't all that and I should step up to their pasta selections to lose weight (oxymoron)?

It does make me laugh in this day and age of "smart" technology to see ads that really miss their mark. Like this one.

Just had to share. Post a funny that you've encountered. Afterall, my football season is now over (Niners are tankers) and pitchers and catchers need to report to Spring Training in 111 short days.

Thats why I stopped subscribing to cooking magazines. My beef with CK and AKT was that even if you subscribed to the magazine, it was another $25 for the website.
That being said, I do not know the cost of running ATK and how much subscriptions contribute vs corporate sponsor money. However, they were relentless which is why I opted out.

i agree. i stopped all magazine subs a few years back. too much mail to my home and not enough time to read magazines anymore.

i'll search for Chris' amazon link as I need to buy some stuff. might as well send it his way since there's a great benefit i derive from this board and its members.

Re; print & websites.... follow the money. It's never about fulfilling your needs & wants, it's about separating you from as much money as possible.

Unfortunately, these days..... websites are getting expensive to maintain. If you're storing much PII at all, you're a target to be compromised, and keeping sites up to date and [relatively] secure is not a simple task.

One day, the wife and I were talking about something (do not remember what for sure) and the next day I got an ad for it. Alexa... Stop it!!!

Yep - getting a little scary. I've been only on Apple devices for 'listening' to me. But despite their privacy pledges, some of the ad content I get on my phone and computer is eerily coincidental and in tune with conversations had in our house.

Same thing here. We don't have Alexa or anything like that, but your right, SOMEONE sure as heck is listening to us. DH and I can't have a conversation about any subject without something related showing up either on the computer or phone.

I've said this before, where did our privacy go? Over 30 e-mail spams a day, strangers calling every day on the phone. It's enough to make you say "screw it, I'm going to go live in a shack in the woods with no electricity, no phone".
