You are all evil, evil people....

So I got a new Droid Maxx so I had boy #2 (our internal IT department, if you don't have one, have another child until you do - it's great!) root that bad boy and delete all the bloat ware down to a pure google platform. Yeah, we were kind of geeking out last night. For this, I made him burgers and fries tonight...

You people (yeah, the evil ones I spoke about in the title) showed me it was possible to deep fry on the grill, so I bought some crappy freezer fries to give it a trial run. Here is my fry station set up - coals banked on one side, Old bay to season right when they come out, and a rack for draining.

I have shied away from frying on the stove inside due to not being able to get the oil to a proper temp or being able to maintain it. Not a problem here.. I think I had 375' in about 10 minutes. Handy dandy candy thermometer to measure with and with a small amount of oil I was able to get the temp to bounce back quickly after dunking frozen fries.

Action shot for Tony, fries bubbling away with the burgers off to the side...

Here is my night time grilling look - I am bit light challenged out back hence the cool head gear. The beam turns red when I want to get all ninja out there...spooks have to eat to you know.

Getting all GBD... golden, brown, and delicious. I mean, look at that rolling boil - that's awesome! The lovely cooking assistant Cheryl remarked how non oily they were when they came out of the pot.... sign of a good fry right there.

Plated up as a thank you to the live in egg head... best freakin' freezer fries I've ever had. I am ruined, and have you all to thank for it.

A little tease of tomorrow's cook - trying to recreate a local sandwich, the Caribbean Roast from Paseo's in Seattle. Big ol' chuck roast marinating overnight in some jerk style seasoning for it's date with destiny on the WSM...

Thanks for looking - see you tomorrow with a sammich!

I think night time grilling is the best! All is quiet I get my Iphone with some good music and just grill and have a good time.... Good looking burgers Dave....
I'm getting ready to do done frying myself...:)

Nice looking food and may try the frying on the grill myself. My son at college is the resident rooting phones guru. Give him anything computer operation wise and he knows how to make it 10x better or modify it to do so. I thought I was good but he is way better :) .

I understand Mike, as he has surpassed me I have gotten lazy. It is way to easy to just have him do this stuff for me these days....:o

Mine is probably better at sentences than myself too...I just saw it after you quoted me..Haha.

I actually had my kids building their own computers from scratch at around 10, joining the house networks themselves, installing printers and etc. It really helped them get the edge 10 -15 yrs later. All I had to worry about growing up was what woods we were playing in for the day. Didn't have all this tech stuff to worry about.LOL

Awesome post Dave! I just upgraded my Droid 3 to the Droid Maxx yesterday. Still
trying to figure out how to get all the bloated crap off of it. I may be sending you a
PM soon! ;)

OH MY. Gave me a great laugh. Only because I thought of doing this and then thought nah. Your kid units must have had a great chuckle. Now do it when they have their friends over. :)

Great post Dave - Nice having a personal IT dept, for sure - nothing like boiling a a vat of oil over an open flame - That is some real cooking action! The plate looks great, burgers, and those fries! love it all.

Looks great, both the food and the headlight!
I'm sure you had a handy lid just off the picture in case the oil self combusted.

I've experienced it, and it is pretty scary. You do not want to do that, and be uprepared.
