I have mixed feelings. I get LONG cooks with a full load of lump and no water in the pan of the 22.5" WSM. Though they look well built, I am not sure a $100 charcoal basket is a requirement for me.

Well, I haven't heard any negative reviews on any of his baskets from anyone thats using them on other smokers. My teammate got one for his Lang and loves it and a lot of Backwoods users are digging the longer burn times they are getting. I spoke to Jeff at the Royal about my BWS Gater, since it has 2 grate rails, and he has already gotten that figured out and started offering them as well.

I just don't get the point? I can get a good 14-16 hours out of a full load of charcoal on my 22.5, so what are you gaining? Sometimes on larger/longer cooks, when I notice the DX2 fan's run percent go up to 80 to 90%, I might have to dump a couple of handfuls of unlit, but that's about it. Imho, this is a solution in search of a problem, at least as it pertains to the WSM.
