Wow!

Hello, my name is Aaron and I just got my first Weber this past Friday. My wife and I had decided to re-do our patio and as a part of that effort I was able to wrangle a new grill. My first search led me to think I needed a big green egg. You see I do most of the cooking at our house and I do mostly scratch stuff so I really wanted a grill with some versatility. Everything I read about the egg said "buy this and you wont need anything else ever again." Fortunately I found this amazing forum and in short order I found myself with a brand new Performer Platinum. The egg may be what they say but it is also unwieldy and $$$$$. In the (less than a) week I've had my Weber I have grilled the best sausage I have made, grilled some of the best burgers I have had, smoke dried tomatoes and baked a couple batches of cookies. All I can say is WOW! This grill and this website have been amazing! Thank you and I look forward to participating in the great community you have going on here.

Welcome - and congratulations on your Performer and how happy you are with the results. I'm a very new member myself and concur with how wonderful the people are here, the wealth of knowledge and the willingess to share insights. Makes all of us better! I too was tempted by the BGE allure but just couldn't pull the trigger on that kind of $s. +1 for Chris - so correct - 1 Weber won't hold you long!

Welcome AP, congrats on the Performer!

The green egg ruined one of the best websites. Mancave meals was great, but he (John Setzler) sold out to the darkside and what once was great, is now gone

just as an FYI - the smallest BGE here in the UK is £500/$750 - and is just about big enough to grill a single burger
admittedly the Webers here are more expensive than in the US too - but the BGE stuff seems seriously overpriced!

Welcome to the site Aaron and I love my performer. Sounds like you will be teaching us some things soon. I'm interested in smoke dried tomatoes.

Welcome to the addiction Aaron ! Last summer all I had was a gasser. Pulled the trigger on an 18.5 WSM which led to a Performer Platinum which led to a circa 1985 Go Anywhere($10 from CL) which led to the gasser getting cobwebs !!

Welcome to the site.
Just think of all the goodies you can get with what you saved.
Now, lets see the new grill and some grilling pictures to go along with it.
