Wildfire Smoke

Air quality here today is AWFUL. Haze is very thick. I thought at first it was fog. And the air smells of smoke.

purple air is a mix of high-end public sector sensors and home sensors.

a note on purple-air home sensors. I've followed their site for years due to wildfires that occur near me.

the purple air sensor shows higher readings with wildfire particulate smoke. Not saying it isn't bad, however the Purple-air home sensors read higher than a multi-thousand dollar public sector sensor.

My advice is to keep windows closed and change your HVAC air filter and run the HVAC on fan mode. It can help clear the smoke inside your house.

P95 masks are reported to help filter out the wildfire smoke particles.

This past Sunday we had some excitement in the hood, this is about 1/2 mile from my house

So far, the air quality in the Bay Area hasn't been too bad. It was awful 2018-2021, not too bad last year and pretty good this year (so far)

My HVAC system has a HEPA filtration system. So it's turned on and when I went out today to Costco and Sam's I used the AC on recirculate in the car since it has a really good air filter in it as well. Kept the throat burning to a minimum

Feel sorry for all of you that have to breath that stuff. Reminds me of when I had to drive into Los Angeles for work in the 60s, the smog was so bad that you couldn't see the more than about 4-5 stories of the skyscrapers before the rest disappeared into the smog.
Truly was horrible.

We had it bad in the Bay Area a few years ago.
It was near dark at noon a few times.
There has been 3-4 days a few years ago that we got hit with smoke on Sequim Bay and we didn’t like it one bit.

Yeah, my daughter is all worried about me. Because of my COPD issue. Knowing it was only tree pollen that landed me in the E Room last month, can only imagine what this crap could do to me. Guess I will be travelling with my little inhaler today
We've had a lot of smoke blowing in from California wildfires, sometimes for weeks in a row, for the last several Summers. With asthma and COPD too, I'm about forced to stay inside. Stay in, with your HVAC fan on, as much as possible and avoid any unnecessary exertion if you need to go out.

I can see a slight haze here in SW Ohio today. I feel for you folks in severe Regions. Please stay safe.

Yeah, the numbers out here are worse today than yesterday. Just sitting on the tractor to mow the lawn was somewhat "taxing"

Yep, it’s still pretty ugly out there! I just moved four patio pavers from the former “umbrella station” and that felt more strenuous than it should have! Now, I need to get some topsoil to fill the hole and seed it. Everything here is in LOW gear at home. Not sure if I feel like going to the store for groceries let alone a bag of soil! Sheesh!
