Why does everybody seem to have 3 or 4 or 5 different grills and smokers?

Why does everybody seem to have 3 or 4 or 5 different grills and smokers?

Like said up-thread, they all have a particular need when the time arises.
I started with an old three wheeler that bit the dust hard ( dang son's playing B-ball) Went thru a series of El-cheapo gassers and wanna be charcoal grills.
Finally in 06 I came back to Weber, family bought me a OTG for fathers day and I saluted the kettle and thanked the BBQ gods.:)
Bought a SJP the same year when Ace had them on CL for $25.00. Thats my picnic/tailgating grill.
Then in 08 the game changed. I was really stressed out at work and needed to slow down and relax to enjoy the BBQ. That's when the 18.5" WSM came into play and it did make a major difference in how my BBQ turned out, and I relaxed.
I just picked up a gently used 22.5" WSM on the cheap, and when the time comes I'll start that Big-Boy up.:wsm:

LOL...
Tony... going to text that to her. She'll most certainly get a kick out of it !

Bob... check your pm, in a few...

I have four grills, and about the same amount of shoes.
Ask your TOTMBO how many pairs of shoes she has, and what they are for.

(On the other hand, I have much more than 50 musical instruments.)

1) Performer THE Main Grill

2) 22.5 OTG In case I need more Grill space for large gatherings and on the road trips

3) 18.5 WSM Ribs and other small smokes for me and the wife.

4) 22.5 WSM mainly because it looks impressive as hell next to the 18.5 WSM. Just kidding. I use it mainly for Turkeys and big smokes for parties.

5) All the other ones because I am a hoarder and like a fool go to the flea market!

I am a registered member of multiple web groups (forgot how many), wood heating/cutting among them. Just be glad you don't have an "addiction" to aquiring chainsaws. Besides, for me, what else would I fill up my signature with? On a serious note, I do see a need for a specialized cooker, even though (technically) all can be done on a gas grill, but it is so much nicer on a more suitable device. Two down, one to go....

My ideal would be a 26" Performer.
Dear Weber, please make a 26" Performer and a 26" WSM.

Love, everybody. :)

I have a Performer and a 22" WSM. Different tools for different jobs--the Performer is my go-to for grilling and small smoking jobs. The WSM does my overnight smoking of big hunks of meat. I'd love a larger version of the Performer, sometimes I have to grill in batches. I know you can get a bigger OTG, but I love my propane assist and the built-in table and cart. If I ever win the lottery, a Ranch Kettle will show up in my back yard. :)

Because they make lots of different kinds. some have the same function so then it's just a matter of my mood that day of which one I want to cook on.
We were talking with another couple a few days ago and his wife complained about him having 3 grills/smokers. With great pleasure my wife turned to me and asked how many I had. I think it may have been her way of bragging to the other wife
