Has anyone made a good clone of a McRib sandwich?

I hijacked Timothy's thread about a Carl's Jr rib sandwich,
and while doing so I wondered aloud (keys clacking):

"Maybe someone with a sausage grinder could grind up some pork shoulder, minimally spice it with s&p, maybe a little bbq sauce, grill it, maybe set a sauce on it with the grill, & then toss it on a bun........ I wonder how a guy without a grinder could do it."

Seems like a good idea to me??? maybe have to grind & then mix it up in the kitchenaid to make a more solid patty, more of a paste than the sausage texture............ I'm not the biggest mcrib fan (mystery meat), but I do like smoked meat, sauces, pickles, onions, and sandwiches in general so.................

oh yeah, does this look like the entry level grinder to get?

Cook a rack of baby back ribs with the membrane removed. When the ribs are almost fall off the bone, removed the ribs off smoker and score the rib bone non meat side in the middle of the bone with a sharp knife and the bone will pop right out.

Its not really a McRib because this is actually made with rib meat not that thing McD's call a ribs :)

Have made better, imho. Scraped leftover ribs & chopped the meat. Added some BBQ sauce & gently heated for a bit.
Served on a toasted bun with dill pickle & white onion slices.

You guys are giving me some good ideas......... If I ever win a challenge pit, I'm going to have imitation McRibs as the next comp. Or should I say WHEN I win a challenge pit :)

Haven't made a McRib clone but I sure like your idea for the challenge.

I tried SR's method last year. Pretty much like John mentioned above.

Tasted pretty darn good.

I did that today with my baby backs. We like ours fall off the bone done so I just pulled the bones and popped on a bun (cut to size).

Most of the rib tips, skirt, flap meat off a trimmed spare would work for a better rib sandwich.
But for a Mc-rib maybe make a fatty out of a shoulder and add the trimmings from spares and slice it with a wedge cutter?
