Where to buy rubs and sauces?

I'd like to experiment a bit with some different rubs and sauces for my bbq. Can someone recommend some good rubs I can buy and where I can order them from? I live in CT so my local grocery stores don't carry anything too exotic.

I've made my own rub and sauce for some time but would like to mix things up a bit. In particular I'd like to try a good vinegar/mustard based sauce as I mostly use tomato based ones. Sweet Baby Ray's has been my brand of choice lately. Would like to branch out some.

I agree with Brian about the Kansas city bbq store. They ship very fast. Another thing is IF they make a mistake, they make it right.

I make all my rubs and sauces so I can only suggest a recipe. When I get tired of my KC style sauce I go with a Carolina mustard. I have a recipe that I like, and I'd be happy to send it to you, either pm me or post an address here.

I based the recipe on a sauce that came from a place in southern georgia that served carolina style bbq. It was some amazing food (only take-out) and we ordered so much that they sold us their sauce in a gallon jug of french's mustard. So I knew were to start

A great vinegar based sauce is the "Bastardized Piedmont Sauce" posted here in the recipe section. It's outstanding on pulled pork.

Holy cow! What a selection. Any favorites you'd recommend from here? There's so many brands to choose from.

Christopher... I like to make my own rubs sometimes as simple as sea salt and fresh ground pepper. The markets and stores have a limited choice and the only one that I like is "Sniders." I also use "Sucklebusters", an award winning rub and sauce company that specializes in "Texas Style" products.

They also have selected outlets across the US.

I'm looking on the kansas city bbq site and see a number of options. If I'm looking for a mustard or vinegar based sauce can I use it on ribs as well as pulled pork? I'm thinking about trying Big Bob Gibson's brand or maybe Sam Dillards. Any recommendations? I'd prefer to buy one just to see what it's supposed to taste like. I made a mustard based sauce last week but it didn't come out very good.

I make most of my own stuff too.
But when I have a specific need of high quality BBQ stuff, I go to Great Lakes BBQ Supply. Google the name for the website. Good prices, excellent customer service, fast shipping.

Is your KC style sauce listed on the site?

In a pinch I'll roll my own, but Chris' rubs are my go to (Dizzy Dust and Red Eye Express top the list for me!)

Ok. These look good.

How about a recommendation for a vinegar or mustard based BBQ sauce? Which brands do you guys like?

I've got a couple tweaked signature rubs of my own that I make up, but like variety.

You can't go wrong with Dizzy Pig, but I buy direct from Chris.

I like to see what sauces and rubs won at the Royal, Jack, BOTB, etc. or what some teams are sponsored with. I also participate in a sauce & rub trade on the Brethren site and have gotten different local specialty items from around the country, and if something picques my interest I might get more.
One company I haven't tried is HomeBBQ.com

Can anyone recommend a good "sampler pack" of sauces?

I was looking at Big Bob Gibson's sauces and really wanted to try each one, but I didn't want to buy a 18 oz bottle of each one (at least until I found out if I liked them). If they offered a pack with, say, 6 oz of each of their 4 sauces for a reasonable price that would be ideal.
