When a Tomahawk crashes a simple Vortex chicken thigh cook


 
Nice!!! Feel like I can smell that from here! Have you done many cooks with the grill grates over the vortex? Does it seem to affect them in any way?

Yes

You get very hot heat which is perfect if you like to sear your steaks and then probe them until they come up to temp. I usually sear them this way over charcoal and then set up the gasser for indirect and finish them that way as I load more items on the Vortex charcoal Performer.

I like the “cook for the masses“ possibility with the technique! I will borrow that the next time I have a bigger steak feast.
