What size?

Hey guys, I'm new here. I came across this board because I have decided to get a wsm. I just don't know what size to get. I currently have a brinkman, and a large trailer smoker that we built for larger gatherings. I would probably use the wsm for anything from 2 to 10 people, anything larger gets the trailer fired up.

Any suggestions?

Scott, first of all ,welcome to the best asylum on the net! There is a bunch of great info/recipes/techniques here and a bunch of even better guys!
As far as which WSM to buy,I've got the 18.5". I've fed my wife and myself. I've cooked ribs for ten people. I've cooked butt and brisket for 30. ALL on my 18.5 WSM! It's a great cooker. But I've also heard great things about the 22". Whichever one you get, you'll be glad you did and you'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner!

Since you already have the trailered smoker, go with the smaller wsm. It's more fuel efficient, easier to clean, and it'll be more than enough for that many folks.

I'll also throw in a vote for the 18. I've cooked five 7+lb birds at once on mine. Butts too. You can get five or six 7-8 pounders in there at one time.

Welcome to the asylum!

Thanks for the quick response guys! I was leaning toward the smaller, but didn't want to make a mistake. It looks like I will get a thermometer or 2 to install on it while I am at it. Can't wait for the trial run!

Any suggestions? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>If you find that you use the Brinkmann most of the time or would if it was just a teensy bit bigger, get the 18.5. If there are times you think the Brinkmann is too small but the trailer smoker is too big, look at the 22.5.

I have the 18.5" and rarely wish for more room. Once, awhile back when I really wished I had more, I bought a 2nd 18.5".

Since you already have a trailer, the 18.5" would seem to fit your stated needs.

But then again, if you get the 22.5", you might not need the trailer anymore!
