What is your favorite Weber gas grill and why?

I’m just sitting here wanting to start up a discussion. What is your favorite style gas grill?

-Is it the classic genesis 1000?
-Is it the longer frame 2000 with the extra side table?
-Maybe the 3000 with the burner?
-Or are you rich and the 5000 is more up your alley lol.
-perhaps you live in NYC and can only fit a Genesis Junior?
-Maybe it’s the silver b?
-Or the smaller spirit?
-Or a newer model genesis?

What ever it is, it would be interesting to know why. Kinda interested to see what people have to say!

I would be interested in hearing people's stories of the grills they had before discovering Weber. I've never had another grill but a Weber, a 1998 Genesis 1000 that I cooked on and loved for 25 years. That would be my favorite. I've recently acquired a slightly newer Genesis Gold C that I really like too. After using it for a while now and mostly used to it, I think it's a slight drop off in cooking quality than the 1000, but still pretty good. Even with it's plastic tables, it's still a very solid and attractive grill in my book.

Nice! Do you still have the same 1000? If so I would love to see photos. That’s a cool story

Prior to the Genesis I had a Sunbeam. I swear that thing was indestructible. All cast aluminum. I finally abandoned it at my father in law's lake place near St Cloud MN after he passed away I just left it. Did not feel like carting it home. But it was still working perfectly
Hopefully it’s still around. It’s amazing how many nexgrills and expert grill cheapo 5 burner grills are for sale on fb marketplace literally rotted. Whenever I’m at a friends house and I see a nexgrill, I open the lid and I swear the lid flops from left to right. Such crap!

I do not still have that grill. I restored it a few years ago and couldn't bring myself to use it afterwards. It sat in my garage for a couple of years before I decided to sell it. The one I have now is the one I acquired to use while I restored the original. Here's what it looked like after the restoration.Screenshot_20250506-072337.png

The 2016 Genesis E330 is my go-to workhorse for gas grilling. Speed to heat is as fast as anything I've owned. I timed a frozen salmon burger cook a while ago. 12 minutes from start to plated food.

I blacked mine out and outboarded the propane tank.

A few feet away, and ready to go is a Genesis 1000 with trim to make it look like a Silver B. I only use the 1000 for rotisserie, and not very often for that. the x000 is my second favorite weber gas grill.

Silver B would be third place.

side-control E 320 is in fourth place.

Our first gas grill was the Spirit 700 new in 1994. We bought a new CharBroil every couple of years for our rental apartment, but the 700 is still working well at a friends house.
A few years ago after I found tvwbb, I was converted to deep box x000s by ones I got for peanuts near me. I’ll never go back, and have settled on a standard frame 1000LX and a smaller frame Jr for my “forever “ grills.
It’s about time I did that, as I’ll be 89 next month.IMG_1391.jpegIMG_1393.jpeg

I’ll break it down a little deeper.
Appearances wise
1. Genesis 2 (or 3) I LOVE the big fat white walls
2. Genesis Platinum (SS framed)
2a. Summit Platinum - 4 burner second gen (haven’t cooked on one though).
3. Genesis Gold C w/ sideburner

Cooking
1. Genesis e330 - it’s awesome for cooking indirect. With the two end burners on medium, it will maintain 400 to cook chicken and steaks beautifully without heavy sear marks (my children think sear marks are immediate death causing poison).
2. Genesis x000 - it just feels better cooking on an older one - the food I can make in any grill is easily comparable. But just the vintage looks makes it tast better.
3. Silver B/C - again the food tastes great, and the ample and simple design of the folding tables is very handy, especially while cooking for multiple people (or in my case a concession stand). People have asked specifically for me to work the bigger events. I adjust the heat to not char the burgers to hell.

Sorry but I jumped the gun, didn't fully read the question, natural charcoal, got rid of my gasser years ago, love doing the setup with charcoal, It's not a job it's an Adventure. 🍻

Easy answer for me well except my two favorites are a tie for first place.
Genesis 1000 &
Genesis Jr.
I have about 30 gas Weber's right now and dozens have come and gone over the years so I have tried many. From my 1985 Genesis 2 to my 2024 Genesis SPX-435 smart grill. Here's some pics of some of my current favorites.

So I've never cooked on a Weber gas grill that did not perform well. Because of that my favorites are based on build quality and aesthetic/Looks. I don't think there's any better built grills out there than the first or second generation Genesis from 1985-2000 and they have that vintage classic Weber style that I Love.

It's all good. I was just poking fun at you for not answering the exact question posted.

You are not the first to ditch your gasser.
