I've owned a Smokefire EX4 Gen 1 since release in March 2020 and was working out what Weber have replaced under warranty since I purchased it. Would also like to say the Weber customer service and sending replacement parts have been excellent in that time and I am sure not many other manufacturers would have been as proactive with their customers over such a long period of time for any of their products.
But if what I have had replaced is anything to go by and relates to other owners as well, then it is no surprise that the Smokefire is being phased out for the Searwood
I have had replaced in the nearly 4 years of ownership
3 new whole PID control units,
2 Motherboards
1 Fuse
Front and back bar that support the flavouriser bars (rusted and flaking)
2 Augurs
1 complete Firepot unit (flaking)
Complete new wiring system with connections
2 Glow Plugs
Also a seperate chute the pellets travel down to the firepot (flaking)
+ They sent out a redesigned pellet slide for the hopper
+ The extra boxes of free pellets they used to send out as an apology at the beginning when things went wrong
A least I have a good knowledge of the inner workings of a Pellet Grill now, from replacing so many parts
There may be more parts but I can't recall
It's amazing when you look back on it, just how much it must have cost Weber if this is what most others have experienced like myself. lets hope the Searwood has had more strenous product testing before release than the Smokefire appeared to have, to iron out these problems.
After all been said, I love my Smokefire and the food it cooks and wouldn't be without it, for all it's failings
p.s. Owned A Weber Genesis 335s for nearly 2 years now also and never had to contact customer service once about it in that time......
