Hello All,

I found myself alone for dinner again and decided to do a quick Surf & Turf. Pretty elegant for a Tuesday night but I figured I deserve it lol...

This was very good for a week night. I saved the second skewer of shrimp for Kari when she got back. Cooking on the charcoal chimney is rapidly becoming a favorite technique for steak. I will definitely do the shrimp again - you could really taste the rosemary. Next time I will soak the rosemary stalks longer and place a bit more distance between the shrimp. Thanks for looking everyone.

regards,

John

Real nice cook John. Never thought to put the grate on the chimney and cook like that. Cool Beans

I've seen the rocket thing a few times now guess I'll have to give it a try. That plated picture sure looks good!

I've been torn between doing the chimney or directly on lump charcoal. They both turn out a fabulous steak. Yours look perfect John

Thanks everyone. John - I can't take credit for the rosemary skewers. I got the idea from one of the FoodTV chefs (probably Bobby Flay). Ryan - The steak was just a little under 1" thick and I cooked it for about 2.5 minutes per side for rarish medium rare.

Regards,

John

Very clever idea for the skewers! I've seen using herbs used as a mop/glaze/sauce brush but not sure I've seen them used as a skewer. Nicely done sir!
