Weber Performer Timer Clock

My new Weber Performer Deluxe arrived all connected except for the timer clock. Seemed simple enough that any "bonehead" can do, however, both the wife and I are having trouble installing this timer clock correctly into the space provided. It does enter this space, however, you almost need a pair of pliers to remove it.We did follow the scant image-only instructions that were provided with no luck, so, any of you Performer owners having the same problem? Any comments regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, mine only fits upside-down!!!

I put mine on a shelf in the garage when I got the grill. It's been there ever since.

I keep mine in the garage too, although I have used it a few times.

FWIW, mine fits in the space really well, but it quit working after a few months. I even replaced the battery - twice, and no worky. I just use the timer on my phone now.
