Weber Genesis Silver restoration project

Hello All: I found this Weber Genesis Silver and it was free. I am not entirely sure what the manufactured date is, I believe it is around 2005 vintage. Also, I believe this is a Weber Genesis Silver B model. It needs a lot of clean up and normal replacement parts (because of its age). I have a picture of the model tag and other pictures as well. I'm hoping someone on this forum can provide a more exact date of this Weber Grill. Also, if someone knows a good site to get replacement parts that would be helpful as well. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Best of luck on it. Looking forward to progress

You are correct. It's a 2005 Silver B cabinet model. Parts are easy to come by on Amazon or eBay.
At this point in my research that is going to be tough to source is the work table on the left side of the grill (P/N WEB60323). The rest of the parts are pretty easily sourced.

Yeah, that's one of the last things you want to try and find for those grills. I did recently see some thermoset tables for these grills on eBay. The only other ways to get them are either from another grill or a member here that might have extras.

I just tested this Genesis Silver and it fired right up. Here is a list of parts I need and along with that a complete tear down and restoration begins.

- Flavor bars
- Burners
- Top hardware (fasteners)
- Wheels and casters
- Igniter and Rocker switch
- knobs
- Work table (Pricy and hard to find) ain't gunna pay $24 for shipping

$24 for shipping per that Thermoset work table. Damn that's high.
This is a great example of how important it is to get all the parts for a grill, some aren't that easily or cheaply replaced. Maybe you can find a cheap or free Silver B to get the table from on Facebook marketplace.

Flavorizer bars, burner tubes, casters, and knobs are all readily available. The wheels and igniter switch are both no longer available to buy new. The wheels can be repainted and the white walls purchased on Etsy if the wheels themselves are still in ok shape. You might be able to find the igniter on Etsy as well.

That sounds like the best plan! Plus, you can fuel your Weberitus!!

Great advice, Steve. Yah, I would definitely go along with the idea of just repainting your wheels. The front one in the picture looks to be fully intact. I am betting someone can help you with a decent used igniter switch.

What quality of table & knobs/rocker switch are you looking for? I may have some I would part with reasonably. It looks to me like your grill would have the curved front for the thermoset table, so the plastic end caps would remain flush with the table when installed.

I would also wait on buying the hard internal parts until black Friday - Cyber Monday. You can normally score some good buys on the Amazon for burners/flavor bar combos, as well as nice grates.

Hello Fellas: I started to tear this Genesis Silver down. The more I got into it, the more I found out how corroded and abused this grill is. It probably was never covered during its entire life. If I press forward it would cost me more money and time than I willing to spend on this grill. So I have decided to scrap this project and put this grill in the trash heap. I already restored my Weber Silver B (I am the original owner and bought new in 2001) which was quite easy to restore since I always kept the grill covered and my Silver B works quite well. Thank you to all that replied to this post.

The missing table would have prevented me from even considering it in the first place so I completely understand. Better luck next time.

Bummer, another one bites the dust. I didn't realize you already had another that was restored. Being up here in the rust belt, that one looked like a fantastic grill to rehab :(

Here are a bunch of recent pictures I just took. The Botton has three areas of concern. Two fasteners I cannot remove, these hold down the two outside burners. The main nut and bolt that fastens the Botton of the cook chamber (the bolt) snapped off. I would like you guys opinions on this grill if it is truly a lost cause and perhaps offer ways to remove the fasteners I just described. Thank you everyone that has help me out thus far.
