Weber Genesis Platinum, I bought in Wausau,Wisconsin. Will be drastically modified.

So the fat frame box is deeper, but still only uses 5 bars that are slightly different, but takes the same grates and lids as the rest of the 1, 1000 and silver B? That’s crazy. And I like the idea 100%
The flavorizer bars are a lot taller than the ones that go in the bottom of Genesis 1000. The interesting thing is that I ran a set of those in my Genesis 1000 for years in place of the 13 bar set and was quite happy with their performance.

Not knowing Mark's intentions on how he is going to use the grill, I agree that two 30# tanks would be overkill and extra work. I could see having a 30# tank on board with no scale, and a 20# on the oem scale. Switch tanks when the 30# tank is empty. You would obviously refill the 30# tank before you ran out of the 20#. (And you would know how long you could wait to fill)
If the grill is not moving from home where the spare full 20# tank is, I wouldn't be mounting an extra tank.

Gerry

Its like putting giant twin turbos on your car poking out of the hood. Do you need it? No. Do you want it? Yes.

I'll probably mount 2 20 pounders on each side, it will look even that way, it's all about looks, must look good😉
Powdercoated tanks to match the lid?!

That’s kind of where my brain was going with that.

My next project is going to be either the Genesis 1 I just picked up, or a 2000.

Yep @Gregory Pinch just used it on his Genesis 240 rehab. Perfect match. I'm hoping he will post more pictures.
Yep, I am the one that used it on my 240 (see photos for color match). I have also used the black in the past on vintage 1000/2000. It needs to be heat-cured but you can do that by running the BBQ a few times on medium for an hour. I have had fantastic results with it; it never peeled or had any issues.

Looks great!

But, Cody, the original grill used the side panel for the bumpers, which puts them in the exact same orientation as that cross member.

Here is a photo of Mark's grill side panel.
