Weber Genesis 1000 Restore Project

IT LIVES!

Minor adjustment to the flames to even out the cookbox temp. Shelves are all done. Thermometer is ever so slightly off, that or the IR is off. Either way this baby can cook!

Thank you everyone for the parts, insight, help, and encouragement to get this grill restored! Now I'm spurred on to clean up and give my red top some TLC next.

Supposed to get a ton of rain and wind Monday. Ill keep this one inside till after that storm, then it will go on the back porch to its new home next to the red top!

In the meantime, planning out this grills maiden voyage. Im thinking definitely a steak, will see whatbthe local meat market has on sale this coming week!

Cheers!

Hey all! Been awhile.

Maiden voyage of the rebuilt Weber Grill Smoker!

Tenderloin Steaks with Tastfully Simple Ultimate Steak Seasoning, dressed in EV Olive Oil, and smoked with Hickory wood chips! Back burner on low only cooked at 250-270° ambient at the highest.

Finish it off for a medium rare cook, target 145°. Remove from smoker at 140° and reverse sear on the cast iron grate red top Weber 25 seconds each side. Good call as the carryover cooking if I went any longer I would have overshot internal temp. Rested 10 min and serve!

Served with the wifes special butternut squash with cajun seasoning!

Now to figure out something to do with the rotisserie!

Gary seems you're doing the smoker backwards perhaps. The Genesis seems to like air movement from front to back. So it may have been more advantageous to place the smoker in front and the food in back which would draw the smoke and heat from the single front burner over the food a little better. Otherwise looks like tasty stuff

Ill take the suggestion! Still learning here. Yeah the smokey flavor wasnt as much as I wanted. You may be right about the air flow. Ill def try that next time!
