Weber and Blackstone to merge

Wow. I imagine the Weber griddles might disappear. Blackstone CEO running the show from Utah.

It looks like Weber's current owners wanted out of this industry. Blackstone just bought an international distribution channel while Weber gains what?

I can't keep up with Weber these days...so many changes the last few years. But I was just at Costco and Blackstone had a couple griddles on sale and people were scooping them up...quickly! I was pretty shocked to see that in December in the Pacific NW...

This is really disappointing news.

What's in this for Weber? They've just rolled out a line of griddles. Why do they need Blackstone?

Now they call him “spinning George” I’m sure he’s sad about all of this.
I’m glad I’m working on the blue custom Genny and I hope I won’t need to do a lot with the company unless something really amazing comes up.
I think I’ve bought my last “new stuff”.

Well Weber, along with Traeger, went public during the Covid stay-at-home boom. Both stocks flopped.

Traeger is still public. WEBR's private equity firm decided to take the company private again. Presumably the PE firm decided that selling to Blackstone was the best available exit.

Weber's gasser and charcoal core has been challenged first by the pellet grill format and then second by the griddle format. Probably makes sense to hook up with a griddle company or a pellet company than trying to out-Traeger Traeger (i.e. Smoke Fire) or out-Blackstone Blackstone (i.e. Slate).

I'd guess that Weber's older charcoal and gasser footprint was more mature and slower growth than pellets and griddles.

Maybe a Blackstone (with a Weber division) IPO is in the offing. Or maybe Blackstone buys Traeger and then the combined company goes public.

"They" have nothing to do with his site.
Um..... This site does use trademarks and service marks to refer to specific products, and these marks are not owned by Chris. This is a fine line for fan sites to walk, not all companies are as understanding or benevolent as the Weber company. I have heard of cases in the past where the mark owner went scorched earth on fan sites and more or less put them out of existence.

Back to the original topic... this is rather interesting, as Weber has introduced their own line of outdoor gas fired griddles. Which product line will survive? Or will both product lines continue?

Blackstone is the market leader in griddles.

So presumably Blackstone bought Weber for its products and brand in segments other than griddles. Meaning Weber charcoal and Weber gas grills. Not to have Weber Slates compete with or replace Blackstone griddles.

Waiting for Solo Brands to get taken over. Trading at $1.24, this stock has been a race to the bottom.

And Traeger is in a similar state. Fallen from high $20’s to $3.xx and chump change.

I am highly concerned Webers amazing customer service will take a hit.
I think what was the most amazing thing about it was how people were basically taking advantage of Weber's generosity when times were a lot better for them. Those days are over even now. I would still expect their customer service to be on par with what I find from other companies currently.

Some companies... auto manufacturers in particular, pursue the use of their trademarked/copyrighted logos, emblems, publications, etc...stringently. Peoples YouTube channels and other content creators have been shut down and/or completely retooled after being forced to scrub all protected signs associated with their products.
So yes, this or any site can be effected. Some folks avatars alone could be subject to such actions.

Highly unlikely in this case. This is a forum in support of all things Weber and I doubt the new ownership will take a different stance on it.

Entirely possible of course. I simply stated that some companies take a different approach. I've seen very useful YouTube sites disappear overnight because emblems and other protected Toyota/Lexus visuals appeared in them. Not likely in this site's case but one cannot deny that possibility exists.
