Old man winter was being nasty with major gusts of wind....and then I wake up to this!!!

I normally had it tied up to the fence but I used the straps for the xmas tree in the trunk.
Never again will I let old man winter or mother nature knock my baby on her arse again!! Lesson learned.

Glad there was no damage to the WSM!

We had a tornado come through about a half mile from our house a few weeks ago and my WSM was on the back porch... Thankfully the wind blew it about six feet across the concrete up next to the house.

Man these things are tough!

Like Mr. Lampe said - glad nothing was cookin' when it blew over!

We had some gusty winds last weekend when a front came through. I had 4 butts on my WSM and I was worried about it turning over. I used a couple of ratcheting tie downs and strapped it between two poles on the patio. Fortunately it didn't turn over.

Interested to know how many folks tie down their cookers. I always do expected for this month but never thought it would tip over. Its even place against a wood fence to block some wind.

Never had one flip but wind gust blew the cover off of my 18 1/2" WSM a couple of weeks ago.
Had storm summer of 2010 that blew table umbrella 2 houses down and couldn't find grandson's pinwheel - figured it was out in the middle of Lake Michigan or somewhere. Spotted it in my 2nd story gutters when I brought the umbrella back on the deck.

we don't usually get much wind here, but when a storm is coming that threatens to be very windy, I will put a couple of bricks on the bottom wire rack of my kettle and on the charcoal grate, and I will put three bricks on my charcoal grate inside the WSM. No problems so far.
