Tried something new on a rehab

Nice - How did you do the lettering (sanding, waxing, etc)?
I sanded it down. I put wide masking tape around the edges of the rectangular area that is recessed. Then I used a cordless square sander to slowly and carefully sand it to bare aluminum. I will clear tomorrow and post pics of the final product!

Really nice job! I did the exact same thing on valve covers I own, just a different means. If you carefully rub a thin layer of grease on the raised letters before you paint the whole thing, none of the paint will stick to the greased areas, and you can easily wipe it away after the rest of it dries.

Brett, this is an interesting truck. The orbital sander works great for me, I like to hear of new ideas.

That is nice. It doesn't look like the clear turned the bare aluminum on the logo white like the Rustoleum clear does.

I had an old hibachi blasted and then I did a red paint job using that stuff, I don’t use it a lot but, it still looks pretty darned good, that was maybe ten years ago, maybe even longer.
