Tri Tip - SmokeFire

Made a pretty decent Tri Tip, I need to work on getting a better crust. The BBQ ran flawlessly and the software was most useful.

After 10 minutes, I flipped it

From then on, I just let it ride until it got to 115 when I cranked up the heat to 500

How long did the potatoes cook and what temp did you start at? I’m burning in my SmokeFire as we speak - couldn’t yesterday bc it was a washout.
 
Nice plate! You're an excellent cook and I know you'll dial-in on the approach for your desired crust but I also know @Bruno and @Lew Newby can help you in a jiffy.
Looking at the picture I think it's sitting right over the center, big, flavorizer?, bar. To sear I move it to the right so it's sitting between the big and small flavorizer bars. If 500 doesn't give you the sear you want then go to 550. I'm a steak guy, Bruno is the Tri Tip guy and a much better cook than I am.
